Wrestling Competes at Navy Classic

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team competed at the 2023 Navy Classic on Saturday, November 18. The Huskies posted 10 team points through the tournament.
 
Graduate student Bronson Garber (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) went 1-2 in the 125 pound bracket with a 10-3 decision over Nick Molchak of Cleveland State. He fell by decision (8-2) to Malik Handy of the Citadel and dropped a 13-2 major decision to Adan Benavidez of Kent State.
 
After dropping a 14-7 decision to Luke Lucerne of Navy in the first match at 149, Cade Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) rebounded for an 8-5 sudden victory win over Bryce Shelton from Air Force. Balestrini dropped his final match of the day to Derek Raike of Ohio., 13-7.
 
William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) continues to have a strong season for the Huskies with a 17-4 major decision win over Brooks Gable of Air Force in the first match in the 157 pound bracket. He dropped a tightly contested 2-1 decision to Cade Wimsberger of Bucknell before getting a bye in the consolation bracket. He ended the day with a 4-2 decision in favor of Thomas Snipes of The Citadel.
 
After a tech fall loss (26-11 – 6:26) to Noah Mulvaney of Bucknell in his first match at 165-pounds, Macon Myers (York, Pa./Central York) got his quickest fall of the season at 0:32 over teammate Michael Duggan (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) in the consolation bracket. Myers day ended with a 21-6 tech fall loss to Tate Geiser of Cleveland State.
 
Kolby Flank (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) took a pin at 4:50 in his first match of the 197-pound bracket to Luke Stout of Princeton before getting a fall of his own at 6:23 over Patrick Brophy of The Citadel. Cameo Blankenship of Davidson ended Flank's day with a 9-6 decision in the consolation bracket.
 
The Huskies return to the mat on December 3 when they head to Lancaster, Pa. for the Franklin & Marshall Duals. Bloomsburg will square off against Michigan State, Virginia Military Institute, Presbyterian, and Franklin & Marshall.
