Wrestling Splits Day at Morgan State; Bloom Defeats MSU 32-7 and Falls to Hofstra 27-14

BALTIMORE, Md. – Bloomsburg wrestling split a pair of duals at Morgan State, Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies dropped a 27-14 match to Hofstra to open the day before capping the tri-meet with a 32-7 win over Morgan State University.
 
Freshman Caden Dobbins (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) had a strong day on the mat for the Huskies at 165 pounds with a pair of tech falls between the two matches. He opened the day with a 15-0 TF over Joe McGinty of Hofstra to pull the Huskies to within one point in the match, 12-11. Dobbins followed his first tech fall up with another as he defeated Shamus MacIntosh of Morgan State 16-0. His tech fall pushed the Huskies' lead to 21-4 in the match.
 
Junior Cade Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) picked up a pair of wins for the Huskies at 149 pounds. He opened the day with a 5-2 OT win over Noah Tapia of Hofstra and cruised to a 21-3 tech fall over Aaron Turner of Morgan State.
 
Graduate student Bronson Garber (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) started both matches off strong for the Huskies as he earned a 4-1 decision over Dylan Acevedo of Hofstra at 125 pounds. Garber followed it up with a 16-1 tech fall over Julian Dawson of Morgan State.
 
David Tuttle (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) earned two wins on the day at 197 pounds as he picked up an 11-8 decision over Nikolas Miller of Hofstra and defeated Nathanic Kendricks of Morgan State 11-8. Tuttle's decision against Morgan State gave the Huskies a 27-7 lead in the match.
 
Michael Cassidy (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) pushed the Huskies' lead to 8-5 against Morgan State with a 10-3 decision over Tommy Fiero while William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) earned an 11-2 decision over Josh Greenwood of Morgan State at 157 pounds to give Bloomsburg a 16-3 lead.
 
Josh Bonomo (Sweet Valley, Pa./Lake-Lehman) put the match out of reach for the Huskies as he earned a 9-4 decision over Kyle Grey of Morgan State at 174 pounds. His win gave the Huskies a 24-3 lead and sealed the match win for Bloomsburg. Tyler McCatharn (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) closed out the match against Morgan State with a 16-0 tech fall over Tyler Stewart.
 
After a break for the Holidays, the Huskies return to action on New Year's Day, January 1, 2024, at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Huskies will take on the two-day tournament before returning to dual matches on January 12 at Clarion.
