SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa – The Bloomsburg women's track and field team had podium finishes in six different events during the final day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships Saturday at Slippery Rock University.
Kelly Leszcynski (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) led the way with her second-place finish in the javelin throw to earn a silver medal in the event. Leszcynski hit a mark of 43.88m (143-11) on her second throw to place second overall in the event. The freshman's distance was an NCAA Divisional II Provisional mark, and her season-best throw of 45.28m (148-7) ranks 11
th in the nation as of Saturday.
Along with Leszcynski, the Huskies had two seventh-place finishers, two eighth-place finishers and the Huskies' 4x400 team finished seventh overall.
Bloomsburg's next podium finisher was
Jaime Diedel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), who hit a PR in the 1500m finals and finished seventh overall with her time of 4:42.36.
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) also had a solid performance and cracked the top 10 by running a 4:49.42 to place ninth. In the same event,
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) placed 14
th (4:54.03),
Alyssa Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) finished 17
th (4:57.86) and
Sarah Sweet (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prepatory) was 21
st (5:13.90).
Natalya Heard (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) added two more points in the team standings and earned a seventh-place finish by running a 58.67 in the 400m finals.
In the 800m finals,
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) clocked a 2:22.82 to finish eighth.
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) led three Bloomsburg runners in the 5000m finals as she ran an 18:15.22 to place eighth overall and earn a spot on the podium.
Amanda Kelly (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) finished 10
th overall as she ran an 18:23.16, and Diedel placed 17
th with her mark of 19:00.88.
The women's 4x400 team that consisted of Sarah Castranova,
Delaney Porter (Pen Argyl, Pa./Penn Argyl Area),
Megan Gambogi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and
Kelsie Robinson (Media, Pa./Penncrest High School) picked up two points in the team standings by finishing seventh overall with their time of 3:57.69.
In field events,
Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) had a 10
th-place finish in the triple jump after jumping an 11.05m during her second attempt.
Dahlia Hosey (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) finished 12
th in the event with her mark of 11.03m that she set on her third attempt, and
Sydney Beaverson (York, Pa./Red Lion) hit a distance of 10.33m on her third attempt to finish 16
th.
Madison Baudille (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) finished 11
th in the shot put with her throw of 12.16m during her second attempt.
The Huskies finished 10
th in the team standings and accumulated 29 points across 21 events during the championships. Slippery Rock won the event and Shippensburg finished second overall. Millersville rounded out the top three.
