BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team dropped a 37-3 decision to George Mason University in Mid-American Conference (MAC) action, Friday night at Nelson Field House. The Huskies fell to 4-10 on the year and 0-4 in MAC duals.
Junior
Harrison Levans (Conshohocken, Pa./Germantown Academy) picked up his first win in a Bloomsburg singlet as he out-lasted Donovan Sprouse in tough match in the heavyweight bout. After a scoreless first period, Levans took the bottom to start period two and got an escape which he quickly turned into a takedown to take a 4-0 lead. Sprouse ended the period with an escape to get on the board, 4-1. Sprouse chose bottom to start the third and got the escape to cut the score in half, 4-2. Levans pushed his lead to 7-2 with another takedown before Sprouse ended with an escape to cut the lead to 7-3. Levans held on for the 7-3 decision to score three team points for the Huskies.
Senior
David Tuttle (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) battled through one of the closest matches of the day at 197 pounds. Ruben Karapetyan scored the first points of the match with an escape late in the second period before Tuttle tied the match 1-1 with an escape in the third. Karapetyan chose bottom to start the first overtime and eventually got an escape to take a 2-1 lead but couldn't get a takedown and the match headed into a second overtime. The score stayed 2-1 after the final overtime and Karapetyan held on for the hard-fought victory.
Sophomore
William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) battled in a tight match at 157 pounds with JT Chance. Chance scored first with an escape in the second period and Morrow tied it with an escape in the third, but Chance built riding time to claim a point at the end and a 2-1 decision.
