Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. – It took an extra 3:13 of action, but the #5 Bloomsburg field hockey team defeated Frostburg State, 3-2, in the first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match up between the two teams. The Huskies improved to 10-2 on the year and 2-1 in PSAC action while the Bobcats fell to 3-7 and 0-2 in conference play.
Senior
Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) and the Huskies took advantage of the only penalty corner of the overtime period to come away with the conference victory.
Kate Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) inserted the ball on the corner 3:05 into the period.
Kara Koch (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) took the ball and got it to McFarland who buried her team-leading 17
th goal of the year.

Koch got the scoring started for the Huskies just 38 seconds into the first period, which was Bloomsburg's second-fastest goal of the season. The fastest was when
Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) scored 24 seconds into the first against Franklin Pierce. Koch's goal was assisted by McFarland. The 1-0 score held through the opening period despite two penalty corners and two shots by the Huskies.

The Huskies had five more shots in the second period and four more corners but couldn't put the ball away as Frostburg had a pair of saves in the second 15 minutes of action.

The Bobcats evened the game 1:58 into the third period as Emilie Bonhivert found the back of the net. The score remain tied until the Koch-McFarland connection worked again, as McFarland got her first of the game off a pass from Koch.

Frostburg hung around and tied the game with 12:57 to play in regulation.
Bella Culp (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) tried for the game-winner at the with 9:03 to play but her attempt was blocked. Culp had another shot blocked and one saved in the final four minutes and McFarland had two blocked and two saved to send the game into overtime.

The momentum stayed in the Huskies favor as McFarland and Koch teamed up for the game-winner in overtime.

The Huskies dominated possession as they out-shot Frostburg 21-4 and had as 12-3 advantage in penalty corner.

Jackie Nevel (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick Area) made two saves in the win for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies return home on Wednesday, October 9 when they welcome Kutztown to Steph Pettit Stadium for a 4:00 p.m. PSAC contest.
