Monday's quarterfinal contest will be the third meeting of the season between Bloomsburg (14-4, 6-3 PSAC) and West Chester (12-6, 5-4), with each team collecting a home win against each other this season. The first meeting of the year saw the Huskies' comeback attempt fall short, losing a 2-1, non-conference matchup to the Golden Rams on September 13. Game two saw
Alyxandra Flick (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) serve as the lone goal scorer in a 1-0 Bloomsburg victory on October 1. The Huskies' victory was the program's first win over WCU since October 6, 2012.
Â
The matchup between the two teams is the first in the post-season since 2017 and features the conference's two top scorers.
Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) has had a career year for the maroon and gold, posting 20 goals in 18 games this season. McFarland posted a PSAC-leading 49 points and ranks third in the nation.
Kara Koch (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) and McFarland tied for second in the conference with nine assists each. For the Golden Rams, Jasmine Miller lead the team with 20 goals and one assist in 18 games.
Â
Goaltending will prove important in the contest as Bloomsburg's
Jackie Nevel (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick Area) and West Chester's Ryan Curley serve as two of the top goaltenders in the PSAC. Nevel finished the regular season second in shutouts (7) while ranking third on goals against average (.947) and fourth in save percentage (.788). Curley ranks second in goals against average (.879) and third in save percentage (.789) and shutouts (5).
Â
The winner will advance to the PSAC Semifinals on Friday, November 8 hosted by the No. 1-seed Shippensburg. No. 2 East Stroudsburg earned a bye to the PSAC semifinals while No. 3 Kutztown host No. 6 Mansfield in the other quarterfinal matchup. The Huskies are looking to capture the 17th PSAC Championship in program history.
