BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg wrestling team dropped a pair of dual matches to Kent State (37-5) before dropping a 31-11 decision to Sacred Heart.

Kent State got off to a hot start with bonus point wins in the first four matches. William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) scored first against Keegan Knapp at 157-pounds with an escape in the second period to take a 1-0 lead. After a second stall was called against Morrow, Knapp tied the match at 1-1 before getting a takedown to lead 4-1 at the end of the second period. Knapp chose bottom to start the third and clinched his decision with an escape to win the match 5-1.

After Aaron Ferguson won a 5-0 decision against Macon Myers (York, Pa./Central York) at 165-pounds, the Huskies got on the board with a tech fall from graduate student Tanner Culver (Hartland, Mich./Hartland). The 17-1 tech fall at 4:00 over Mitchell Broskie at 184 pounds was the first of Culver's career at Bloomsburg. The grad student dominated the match from the opening whistle. He quickly got a takedown in the first period and earned four back points to take a 7-0 lead. After an escape by Broskie, Culver built his lead to 14-1 with another takedown and four-count near fall. Broskie chose bottom to start the second and Culver got the benefit of a penalty point and a two-point reversal to seal the tech fall win.

The Golden Flashes closed out the match with a tech fall at 197-pounds and a decision at 285 for the 37-5 win.

Morrow earned a 17-3 major decision with a completely dominant performance against Connor MacDonald. Morrow got on the board with a quick takedown before an escape from MacDonald cut the lead to 3-1. Morrow got another takedown to end the first and lead 6-1. After MacDonald deferred the decision to start the second period, Morrow chose bottom and after a caution and pair of stall warnings for MacDonald, he led 7-1. Morrow pushed his lead to 8-1 with an escape at the end of the period. A neutral choice by MacDonald in the third gave Morrow the chance to score early and often to build a substantial lead. Morrow got three take downs that he let MacDonald out to build a 17-4 win.

Macon Myers (York, Pa./Central York) followed suit with a 16-5 major decision over Calvin Pineda at 165-pounds. A takedown in the first gave Myers a 3-0 lead but Pineda cut into the deficit with an escape before the end of the period. Myers deferred the choice in the second and Pineda took bottom which led to an escape point and a one-point match. Myers pushed his lead to 6-2 with a takedown to end the second period. The two started neutral in the third and Myers strung together three takedowns around a pair of escapes to push his lead to 15-4. After a stall warning was called against Myers, Pineda got his escape to cut the lead to 15-5 but Myers had plenty of riding time built to earn the extra point and the 16-5 win.

Nolen Zeigler (Loysville, Pa./West Perry) picked up the final win of the day for the Huskies with a 14-8 decision over Owen Ayotte at 174 pounds. Ayotte scored first for Sacred Heart but Zeigler countered with an escape and takedown of his own to take a 4-3 lead. Ayotte tied the match at 4-4 with an escape as time expired in the first period.

Ayotte chose bottom to start the second an Zeigler took advantage with a four-count and two-count near fall to build a 10-4 lead. After a neutral start to the third, Zeigler pushed his lead to 13-4 with a takedown but Ayotte countered with an escape and takedown to cut the lead to 13-8 but Zeigler had the riding time point locked up for a 14-8 win.
