KENT, Ohio – Caden Dobbins (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) and William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) had an impressive first Mid-American Conference Wrestling Championship tournament for the Bloomsburg wrestling team as Dobbins took fourth overall and Morrow finished eighth, Saturday.

Dobbins opened Saturday's action in the consolation semifinals of the 165-pound bracket against Tate Geiser of Cleveland State. After a scoreless first period, Dobbins chose bottom to start the second and got an escape just four seconds into action to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Both grapplers avoided a take down in the second to keep the match close. Geiser opted for a neutral start to the third. Dobbins got a take down with 59 seconds to go in the third to take a 4-0 lead and kept Geiser on the mat for the victory. Dobbins faced Tyler Swiderski from Central Michigan in the 3rd place match. Swiderski got his first takedown with 27 seconds left in the first and chose bottom to start the second after Dobbins deferred. Swiderski got his escape to take a 4-0 lead in the match at the second period. Dobbins chose bottom to open the third and got an escape with 1:41 to go in the match to cut the lead to 4-1. Swiderski was awarded a takedown with 1:09 to go right on the edge of the circle. Dobbins got an escape from it but Swiderski held on for the 7-2 win.

Dobbins entered the tournament seeded fourth and walked away the fourth-place wrestler at 165-pounds. The top-seeded Garrett Thompson finished second while Geiser entered the tournament seeded second and had to settle for fifth. The third-seeded Evan Maag won the 165-pound bracket.

Dobbins is the fifth Husky to finish as high as fifth at the MAC Championships since Bloomsburg joined the conference in 2019-20. Josh Mason (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) finished second in 2021-22 and 2022-23, Alex Carida took fifth in 2021-22, Cole Rhone (Benton, Pa./Benton Area) finished fifth in 2021-22 and fourth in 2020-21, and Trevor Allard took fifth in 2019-20.

Morrow had the fifth-largest seed-to-place difference of the MAC Tournament as he came in as the 16th seed at 157-pounds and finished in eighth place. Morrow wrestled just twice on Saturday. He opened the day with a 15-2 major decision loss to Marcus Robinson and fell to Munktulga Zuunbayan of Northern Illinois 7-3 in the seventh-place match. Morrow went 1-3 for the tournament to take eighth.
