BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg athletic department announced today the five new inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame, which will take place on Sunday, October 13, as part of the Homecoming and Parents & Supporters Weekend festivities. This group marks the 42nd Athletic Hall of Fame class and, with the addition of five individuals, brings the number of members enshrined to 213.
The members of the 2024 Hall of Fame Class are Jen Bryan '03, (Women's Basketball), Nicole Hartranft '04 (Field Hockey), Christine Krebs '01 (Women's Soccer '01), Pete Rinella '95 (Wrestling), and Vanessa Sterner '02 (Softball).
The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. at the Kehr Union Ballroom with lunch to follow shortly after a light cocktail hour. The induction ceremony will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. Early bird registration at $55 a person ($15 for 12 and under) is open until October 4. Finall registration deadline is October 9 at Noon with a price increase of $65 per person ($25 for 12 and under).

Nikki Hartranft '04
Field Hockey
Nikki Hartranftwas a four-year standout for the Bloomsburg field hockey team during a highly successful stretch in program history from 2000-2003.

The Huskies compiled a 73-8 overall record during that time, including a perfect 21-0 season culminating in an NCAA Championship. Hartranft led the Huskies to two NCAA Championships – 2002 and 2003 – and three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) appearances including two conference championships.

Individually, Hartranft was a two-time First Team National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) First Team All-American (2002, 2003) and a Second Team NFHCA All-American in 2001. She was a three-time PSAC First Team All-Conference selection during her sophomore through senior seasons.

Hartranft is one of 13 players in Bloomsburg's storied history, having at least 100 points in her career. She finished her time in the maroon and gold with 114 points with 45 goals and 24 assists. Hartranft is tied for 11th all-time at Bloomsburg in career goals and is 12th in career assists; her 114 points rank 10th at Bloomsburg.

Following her illustrious career on the field, Hartranft took over as the head coach following
Jan Hutchinson's retirement in 2010. Over the last 14 years, Hartranft has guided the Huskies to a record of 153-94, two PSAC championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances, and nine PSAC tournament appearances. She was named the PSAC Coach of the Year three times, most recently following the 2023 season.
Christine Krebs '01
Women's Soccer
Christine Krebs enjoyed a record-setting career for the Bloomsburg women's soccer program from 1997 to 2000. During her time with the Huskies, Bloomsburg was 63-13-7, won two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, and appeared in two NCAA Tournaments.

During Krebs' junior season, the Huskies set the record for most goals in year, scoring 73 times in 1999. The forward did her part with 22 goals that year, also a school record to this day. Krebs also holds the school record for most points in a single season with 50 in 1999. She is tied for most goals in a single game after scoring four against California (Pa.) in 1999. She finished the day with eight points, also tied for a school record.

For her career, Krebs is still second on the all-time scoring list with 59 points, just one shy of fellow Hall of Fame member and teammate, Alea Balthaser. She is sixth all-time in career assists with 18 and second in career points with 136. Krebs is still fifth all-time in the PSAC in single-season goals, 10
th in single-season points, tied for eighth in career goals, and 11
th in career points.

Krebs earned All-PSAC First Team honors in both 1999 and 2000 and All-PSAC Second Team honors in 1998. She was a three-time All-Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She earned NSCAA First Team All-America honors in 2000 and second team All-American accolades in 1999.

Vanessa Sterner '02
Softball 1998-2002

Vanessa Sterner was a four-year standout for the Huskies in softball from 1998 to 2001. During that stretch, the Huskies captured a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships and four-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

During her time in the maroon and gold, Sterner led the Huskies to a four-year record of 174-38-1 and an NCAA third and fourth-place finish to go with the PSAC Championship.

Sterner was a four-time All-PSAC East First Team selection at third base and was a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American with first team honors in 2001 and a second team selection in 2000. She was named to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team following the 2000 and the 2001 tournaments.

The third baseman still holds the Bloomsburg single season record for RBI (68) and is tied for third in the PSAC. Her 18 homeruns during the 2000 season are the second-most in a single season for Bloomsburg and tied for sixth in the PSAC. Sterner is still seventh all-time in hits with 243 and second in career home runs with 44. She is fifth in runs batted in (151) and third in runs scored with 180. Her 44 career doubles in still tied for seventh all time.
Pete Rinella '95
Wrestling 1991-1995

Pete Rinella was a stand-out grappler for the Bloomsburg wrestling program during a dominant time in the program's history. Rinella was a three-time NCAA Tournament qualifier and was an NCAA DI All-American in 1994.

During his four-year career, Rinella collected an 80-33-1 overall individual record and led the Huskies to a 30-35-3 dual meet record. The Huskies went 10-5 during his sophomore season in 1992-93 and finished first at the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Tournament.

Rinella ranked as high as fourth in the nation at 118 pounds during his senior season and was a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament Champion and an Eastern EWL Tournament Champion that season. He was named the Outstanding Wrestler at both tournaments that year. Rinella entered the NCAA Tournament as the sixth seed at 118 pounds, his highest seed to begin the NCAA Tournament, and his third-straight season qualifying for the tournament. Rinella was a team captain during his senior season.

The 118-pound wrestler enjoyed an All-American season during his junior year. Rinella took third at the EWL Tournament and was an NCAA Tournament qualifier for the second straight season. Rinella finished eighth at 118 pounds to earn All-American status and was the 15th individual NCAA DI All-American for the Huskies. That year, Rinella was a member of the U.S. wrestling team that competed at the World Grand Prix in Wiesental, Germany.

Rinella was a semi-finalist at the PSAC Tournament during his sophomore season and finished third at the EWL Tournament. He qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in his career that season and was ranked as high as ninth in the nation in NCAA DI at 118 pounds.

Rinella started his career by finishing sixth at the PSAC Wrestling Tournament as a freshman and earned a spot on the NCAA DI All-American Freshman team.

During his career, Rinella was a four-time Bloomsburg Invitational Wrestling Tournament champion, a three-time Lehigh's Sheridan Invitational Wrestling Tournament runner-up, and finished as the runner-up at the Midland Wrestling Tournament his sophomore season. Â

Rinella was inducted into the EWL Hall of Fame in 2004.

Following his time on the mat for the Huskies, Rinella had a successful career coaching Lock Haven's Freestyle Team in 1996 and becoming the head coach of Wilson High School from 1998-2005. In 2003, he was Coach of the Year in the Berks County Interscholastic Association.
Jen Bryan '03
Women's Basketball 1999-03
Jen Bryan was a four-year member of the Bloomsburg Huskies women's basketball program from 1999-03. During that span, the Huskies made four trips to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament and went to the Regional Finals of the NCAA Tournament in 2001.

During her time in the maroon and gold, Bryan helped lead the Huskies to a four-year record of 77-34 and a 35-11 record in conference play.
Â
Bryan earned three All-PSAC recognitions throughout her career, including back-to-back first team selections in 2002 and 2003. She was named the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Year in 2002. Bryan also earned third team All-American honors from the Women's Division II Bulletin. She was a recipient of the Joanne McComb Award in 2002, which is given to the Underclass Female Athlete of the Year.

The forward finished her career with 1,116 points and sat in eighth in Huskies all-time points at the end of her career. Bryan currently holds several Bloomsburg records, including the single-season and career records for free throws made and free throws attempted. She is 7th all-time in rebounds (753)and 14th in steals (186).
