Wrestling Drops Saturday Night Match to Hofstra

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team picked up three individual victories in a 35-12 loss in a non-conference match against Hofstra on Saturday night.
 
In his debut match with the Huskies, Kade Kluce (Dundee, Mich./Dundee) secured a first period pin in a quick-paced match at 133 pounds. Kluce scored a pair of takedowns early before catching Hofstra's Ryan Arbeit on his back to score the fall at 1:55.
 
At 197 pounds, Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) saw himself on the receiving end of a pair of takedownsfrom Nikolas Miller in the first period. The sophomore managed to earn escapes on both takedowns and trailed 6-2 after the first period. Rebuck chose bottom for the second period and quickly earned an escape before securing a takedown and two-count nearfall to shift the score in his favor, leading 8-6. He held off Miller in the third period to secure the riding time point and a 9-6 decision victory.
 
Tyler McCatharn (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) battled with the Pride's Danny Church at 285 pounds, with neither grappler scoring a point in the first period. After choosing bottom to start the second period Church quickly got the escape to score the first points. McCatharn then defended a shot from Church and scored a takedown to take a 3-1 lead. The third saw McCatharn earn an escape to move the score to 4-1 and held off church for the decision win.
 
William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) and Jurius Clark went toe-to-toe in a defensive battle at 157 pounds. After a scoreless first period, Morrow went ahead 1-0 with an escape to start the frame. Clark leveled the bout at 1-1 after an escape in to start the third period. Neither wrestler could secure a point over their opponent as the bout headed to overtime. Overtime saw the grapplers traded escapes yet again before Clark earned the win with six seconds of riding time.
