BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Bloomsburg women's swimming team turned in a strong early-season performance Friday evening at West Chester University, collecting multiple event wins and PSAC-qualifying times despite falling to the Golden Rams, 117–88.
Senior Rachel Cunningham (Hanover, Pa./South Western) once again headlined the Huskies' efforts, sweeping the sprint freestyle events. Cunningham opened with a 23.62 in the 50 free, matching the NCAA "B" standard and setting an early-season program best. She later clocked 52.36 to win the 100 free, leading a Bloomsburg 1–2–3 finish that showcased the team's depth.
Junior Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) followed closely in 53.25 for second, while sophomore Sid Beers rounded out the sweep with a 54.90, all under the PSAC qualifying mark of 55.92. The trio then teamed with sophomore Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) to close the meet with a dominant win in the 400 freestyle relay, touching in 3:34.58 - nearly three seconds ahead of West Chester.
Holmes also captured an individual victory in the 200 freestyle, clocking 1:57.32 to lead wire-to-wire and secure her second PSAC-qualifying swim of the night. Linsey added a 2:01.86 for fifth, hitting another PSAC cut.
Senior Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) provided a spark in the 200 butterfly, winning the event in 2:10.93, while freshmen Maddie Fletcher (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County) and Jordyn Kinnee (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) finished close behind at 2:14.77 and 2:16.07, respectively — both PSAC times.
Freshman Morgan Keefer (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York) impressed in her first conference meet with a 2:16.94 PSAC time in the 200 IM, and later posted a 2:32.71 in the 200 breaststroke to notch another qualifying mark. Sophomore Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and junior Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) also added top-six finishes in the event.
The Huskies earned PSAC standards in nearly every race entered, including strong swims from Ella Dittmar (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and Kaia Griffith (Pottstown, Pa./Spring-Ford) in the distance events.
Dittmar took fourth in the 1,000-yard free at 11:27.19 and in th 500-yard free as she finished at 5:35.79. Griffith took fifth in the 500-free at 5:37.52 and fifth in the 1000-yard free at 11:39.49.
Bloomsburg will return to competition next Saturday when the Huskies head to Kutztown for a PSAC tri-meet with the Golden Bears and Edinboro beginning at 4:00 p.m.
