BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's swimming team opened the 2025–26 season with an emphatic performance, winning
13 of 22 events to sweep East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg in a tri-meet at Nelson Field House Pool on Saturday.
Bloomsburg topped the team standings with
13 event victories, followed by East Stroudsburg with four.
The Huskies wasted no time setting the tone, as the
200-yard medley relay of
Maddie Fletcher (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County),
Vanesa Valli (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk),
Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush), and
Sid Beers cruised to a win in
1:49.51. Bloomsburg closed the meet in similar fashion, as
Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff),
Rachel Cunningham (Hanover, Pa./South Western),
Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), and
Olivia Igou (Flourtown, Pa./Springfield Township) captured the
200 free relay in
1:38.14.
Between relays, Bloomsburg stacked up an impressive
21 PSAC-qualifying performances, showcasing its early-season strength and depth.
Cunningham swept the sprints with PSAC wins in the
50 free (23.69) and
100 free (52.99), while
Beers (24.27),
Igou (24.22), and
Pickel (25.15) also achieved PSAC times in the 50.
Linsey (55.67) joined Cunningham and Beers under the PSAC cut in the 100 free.
Holmes earned PSAC marks in two events — the
200 free (1:59.28) and
100 back (1:00.80) — while
Keefer (1:58.65) added a PSAC win in the 200 free and another cut in the
100 breast (1:08.10).
Valli also notched two PSAC wins, taking the
100 fly (59.42) and
100 breast (1:06.74).
McBlain (59.46),
Fletcher (59.94), and
Martin (1:00.62) joined her under the PSAC mark in the fly, giving Bloomsburg a sweep of the top four spots.
Other PSAC performances came from
Martin (2:21.10) and
Ruben (2:21.08) in the
200 IM,
Holmes,
McBlain, and
Fletcher in the
100 back, and
Dittmar (11:30.20) in the
1000 free.
Ludwick (1:10.61) added another PSAC time in the 100 breaststroke.
The Huskies return to the pool on Friday, October 24 when they host West Chester at 5:00 p.m.
