PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team turned in a strong showing at the Rutgers Duals on Saturday, highlighted by a commanding 40–4 victory over Centenary while battling through competitive matchups against Gardner-Webb and nationally ranked Rutgers.
The Huskies opened the day with an 18–16 heartbreaker against Gardner-Webb that came down to the final bout. Bloomsburg rallied from an early deficit behind a string of strong performances in the upper weights.
Eric Alderfer (Lower Stafford. Pa./Faint Christian) and
Ethan Ducca (Chardon, Ohio/St. John's) notched back-to-back decisions at 174 and 184 pounds to pull the Huskies within striking distance, while
Wyatt Bush (Grundy, Va./Grundy) delivered an overtime win at 197 pounds and heavyweight
Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) sealed the dual with a 12–1 major decision. Despite winning five of 10 bouts, Bloomsburg fell just short of the team victory.

In their final dual of the day, the Huskies squared off against host Rutgers, ranked among the nation's top programs. Bloomsburg battled through a tough slate of nationally ranked opponents, with Alderfer again leading the way at 174 pounds with a hard-fought 6–5 decision over Nate Blanchette for the Huskies' lone win against the Scarlet Knights.
Alderfer finished the day 3–0, while Schafer, Bush, and Raines each posted multiple victories for Bloomsburg, which continues to build depth across its lineup early in the season.
"We competed hard today," emphasized head coach
John Stutzman. "It's never easy with a new team but today let us know exactly where we're at and we are moving in the right direction."
The Huskies posted eight bonus point wins and picked up 15 individual match wins.
Bloomsburg returns to action next weekend when the Huskies travel to George Mason for the George Mason Duals on Sunday, November 9. Bloomsburg will open the day against Williams before taking on The Citadel. The Huskies will close out the day with Campbell University.
