Wrestling Goes 2-1 at George Mason Duals; Stutzman Wins 100th Match at Bloomsburg

FAIRFAX, Va. – Head coach John Stutzman earned his 100th win with the Huskies as Bloomsburg went 2-1 on the day at the George Mason Duals. After dropping narrow 19-18 match to The Citadel, the Huskies came back for a 30-6 win over Williams and took down Campbell 27-12 to close out the day and hand Coach Stutzman his 100th win.

The Huskies went 2–1 on the day, improving their dual record with a strong mix of veteran leadership and bonus-point victories across multiple weight classes.

THE CITADEL 19, BLOOMSBURG 18
Bloomsburg opened the day in a nail-biter against The Citadel, coming within one bout of a team victory. The Huskies closed the dual with four straight wins, including a first-period pin by heavyweight Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) (1:39).

The upperweights provided the spark for Bloomsburg's rally. Eric Alderfer (Lower Stafford. Pa./Faint Christian) edged Hayden Watson, 4-2, at 174 pounds before Ethan Ducca (Chardon, Ohio/St. John's) dominated at 184 with a 10-4 decision. Wyatt Bush (Grundy, Va./Grundy) followed with an 8-7 win at 197, setting up Rebuck's dramatic fall to close the dual. Earlier in the match, Jace Schafer (Fairport, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) opened with a 4–1 decision at 125 pounds, but The Citadel's early bonus points proved to be the difference.

BLOOMSBURG 30, WILLIAMS 6
Bloomsburg rebounded emphatically in its second dual of the day, winning eight of ten bouts to cruise past Williams College.

Schafer set the tone with a first-period pin (1:30) at 125 pounds, and Richie Woods (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and Dustin Elliott (Delmar, Del./Sussex Tech) extended the early lead with a 12-2 major decision and 11-7 victory, respectively. From there, Bloomsburg controlled the pace — William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) (157) and Braidon Woodward (Canisto-Greenwood, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) (165) each earned decisions before Alderfer blanked his opponent, 7–0, at 174.

At 197 pounds, Bush delivered another dominant bonus-point win with a 18-3 technical fall in under five minutes, and Eli Torres (New Castle, Del./William Penn) sealed the dual with a 9-3 decision at heavyweight as Bloomsburg posted one of its most complete team efforts of the young season.

BLOOMSBURG 27, CAMPBELL 12
The Huskies closed the day with another convincing win, overpowering Campbell behind five straight victories from the lightweights and middleweights.

Schafer once again got Bloomsburg rolling with a 9-4 decision at 125, followed by Gavin Mundy's (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) 10-1 major decision at 133. Elliott continued his strong day with an 8-7 win at 149 before Morrow delivered the highlight — a 19–4 technical fall at 157 that gave the Huskies early breathing room. Alderfer added another bonus-point win with a 9–0 major at 174, and Bush and Rebuck finished the job with back-to-back victories at 197 and 285.

Rebuck once again punctuated the team performance in style, pinning his opponent in just 1:53 to secure Bloomsburg's second straight win of the afternoon.

HUSKIES ON THE DAY
Across three duals, Bloomsburg wrestlers combined for 23 individual wins, including six bonus-point victories by Schafer, Morrow, Alderfer, Bush, and Rebuck. The upperweights — Alderfer, Bush, and Rebuck — went a perfect 8–0 on the day, while Schafer opened all three duals with tone-setting victories.
