LEXINGTON, Va. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team turned in a strong all-around performance at the VMI Duals, posting back-to-back dual victories against Sacred Heart and VMI behind a lineup that produced multiple bonus-point wins and clutch performances throughout the day.

Bloomsburg opened the event against Sacred Heart with early momentum, winning the first two bouts by fall. At 125 pounds, Jace Schafer (Fairport, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) set the tone with a first-period pin at 4:20, and Aiden Grogg (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) followed at 133 pounds with a fall at the 2:02 mark to give the Huskies a quick advantage. Sacred Heart answered at 141 pounds, but the Huskies stayed competitive through the middle of the lineup.

Dustin Elliott (Delmar, Del./Sussex Tech) battled through a tight decision at 149 pounds, while William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) pushed his bout at 157 pounds into sudden victory before dropping a narrow overtime decision. Bloomsburg regained control at 165 pounds as Braidon Woodward (Canisto-Greenwood, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) delivered an 8-0 major decision. The Huskies continued to add separation at 184 pounds with Ethan Ducca's (Chardon, Ohio/St. John's) commanding 17-5 major decision.

Coy Raines (North Chille, N.Y./Churchville-Chille) sealed a sudden-victory win at 197 pounds, and Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) closed the dual in emphatic fashion with a technical fall at heavyweight, lifting Bloomsburg to a 28–14 victory over Sacred Heart.

Bloomsburg carried that momentum into its matchup with host VMI, earning a 26-11 win by taking seven of the 10 contested bouts. Schafer again opened the dual in dominant fashion at 125 pounds, recording a 15-0 technical fall to give the Huskies an early lead. Grogg followed with another bonus-point performance, pinning his opponent at 2:59 at 133 pounds.

Richie Woods (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) added a hard-fought 2-0 decision at 141 pounds before VMI picked up wins at 149 and 157 pounds. Woodward halted the run at 165 pounds with an 8-1 decision, keeping Bloomsburg firmly in control of the dual.

After a setback at 174 pounds, the Huskies closed the dual strong as Ducca earned a 4-1 decision at 184 pounds, Raines followed with a 6-3 victory at 197 pounds, and Rebuck capped the day with an 8-6 decision at heavyweight to secure the team win.

The Huskies get back to action on January 2 when they travel to Ohio for a MAC dual at 7:00 p.m. in Athens, Ohio.
