LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's track & field team delivered a strong season-opening performance at the Bison Opener, earning four PSAC automatic qualifiers while adding several top-five finishes and PRs across the jumps, hurdles, and throws.
SPRINTS & HURDLES — TWO PSAC AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS
Sophomore
Abby Parise (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) produced one of Bloomsburg's best early-season performances, running a PR 8.95 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims before clocking another 9.02 to finish fourth overall. Both marks exceed the PSAC automatic standard of 9.45. Parise broke her own school record of 9.13 in the event, which she set at Bucknell last February.
Junior Madeline Ikeler also surpassed the PSAC automatic standard, finishing 10th in 9.39. Sophomore Lindsey Peleaz added a PR of 9.65 in 19th.
Freshman Aleese Stair led Bloomsburg in the 60 meter dash (8.33), with junior
Abby Rochester (Pocono Summit, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added a PR of 8.39.
MID-DISTANCE
Junior
Ashlyn Albright (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) placed 14th in the 800 meters in 2:32.11.
JUMPS — TWO MORE PSAC AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS
Sophomore
Abby Parise (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) claimed the long jump title with a winning mark of 5.56m (18-03.00). The jump exceeds the PSAC automatic standard of 5.35m. Senior
Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) followed in fourth with 5.46m, also clearing the PSAC automatic mark.
In the triple jump. senior
Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) finished runner-up with 11.27m, and sophomore Lindsey Peleaz placed fifth at 11.04m, both of whom qualified for the PSAC Championships and Peleaz hit a PR in the event.
THROWS — ONE PSAC AUTOMATIC QUALIFIER
Junior
Grace Lippincott (/) opened her season with a strong 14.78m (48-06.00) in the weight throw, placing eighth. The throw exceeds the PSAC automatic standard of 14.20m.
Freshmen
Mikaela Sullivan (/) (13.33m), Annissah Magloire (13.22m), and
Julia Beccari (Lake Ronkonkoma, Pa./Sachem North) (13.17m) all placed inside the top 15 in the weight throw.
In the shot put, Sullivan qualified for the PSAC Championships with a throw of 12.38 meters, a college PR as she took fourth overall and Laura Dunn finished eighth with a throw of 11.49 meters.
RELAYS
The Huskies closed the meet with a seventh-place 4x400 relay finish as Parise, Ikeler, Peleaz, and Rochester ran 4:17.55.
Bloomsburg returns to action in January when the Huskies head to the River Hawk Invite hosted by Susquehanna on January 17.
