LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's indoor track & field team competed at the Bison Open and Multi over the weekend. The Huskies finished with 21 top-10 finishes, featuring eight personal records and two PSAC-standard marks.
Action began on Friday with action in the pentathlon. Lilly Slater (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and Raquelle Riggins (Emmaus, Pa./Southern Lehigh) competed in the five events for Bloomsburg both putting up person-best marks. Slater recorded a score of 2266 which included a career-best performance in the 60-meter hurdles in a clearance of 11.60. Riggins ended with a score of 1708, narrowly edging out Slater in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 11.53. Riggins additionally finished seventh in the pentathlon shot put, posting a personal-best throw of 8.58 meters (28' 5.75").
The day one track events saw strong performances by the Huskies in the 60-meter hurdles. Three from Bloomsburg finished with top-10 times, leading to two finalists. Abigail Parise (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) qualified .03 off her school-record time in the event at 9.23 while Madeline Ikeler crossed the line at 9.45 to qualify fifth. Lindsey Pelaez (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) placed 10th in a time of 10.01. In the final, Ikeler (9.40) narrowly outpaced Parise (9.45), finishing fifth and sixth respectively. In the 200-meters, Anika Krasnai (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) posted a season-best time of 27.10.
On the field, Bloomsburg rattled off three more top-10 finishes, with two coming in the shot put. Julia Beccari (Lake Ronkonkoma, Pa./Sachem North) recorded a personal-best mark of 11.80 meters (38' 8.75") to claim seventh in the event. Becca Martin (Wellington, Fla./Cushing Academy) took eighth after recording a toss of 11.58 meters (11' 2.25"). Coral Shivok (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.41 meters (11' 2.25").
The bulk of action carried into Saturday with several more strong performances across the board for the Huskies. Starting with the field events, Bloomsburg claimed three top-eight places in the long jump and two top-10 spots in the triple jump. Parise claimed the victory in the long jump with her second launch of 5.39 meters (17' 8.25"). Krasnai finished in fifth in the event with a mark of 5.18 meters (17' 0") while Aria Messner (Avoca, Pa./Pittston Area) brought home a seventh-place finish after a jump of 5.07 meters (16' 7.75"). In the triple jump, Devin Hubler (Minersville, Pa./Minersville Area) finished in the fifth spot after posting a mark of 10.83 meters (35' 6.5"). Pelaez ended in ninth after a jump of 10.36 meters (34' 0").
Bloomsburg finished its action in the field with three personal bests in the weight throw. The Huskies were led by Briannan Eckard's (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) career-best mark of 14.03 meters (46' 0.5") for seventh place. Beccari posted her second personal best of the weekend with a throw of 12.90 meters (42' 4") for 12th in the event. Mikaela Sullivan (/) also notched a career-best throw, registering at 12.10 meters (39' 8.5").
The Huskies final day on the track began with another personal best. In the mile run, Melina Turner (Wharton, N.J./Morris Hills) turned in a time of 5:33.46 for 13th and a new personal standard. Megan Gambogi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) took third place in the 500-meter run in a time of 1:26.03. In the 1000-meters, Sydney Werner (Reading, Pa./Conrad Weiser) crossed the line in 3:11.61 for a new career-best time. Jaime Diedel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) finished close behind her teammate with a time of 3:13.92 for fifth in her first attempt of the season.
The largest collection of Huskies competed in the 800-meter run. Meah Eshelman (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) led the group in a time of 2:26.75, claiming ninth place in her first attempt of the season. Werner crossed the line with a season-best mark of 2:28.37 and was followed by Ashlyn Albright (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) with a personal best of 2:29.06.
Bloomsburg wrapped up the individual events on the track with two new PSAC-qualifying times in the 3000-meter race. Josephine Reed (/) led a trio of Huskies to earn top-10 placements with a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 10:30.73 to qualify for the PSAC Indoor Championships and a new personal best. Alyssa Cunningham (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) knocked out a PSAC-standard time in her first crack at the event this season, finishing in sixth place with a mark of 10:33.80. In her first attempt of the indoor season, Amanda Kelly (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) crossed the line in 10th at 10:59.42.

The Huskies are back in action next weekend with opportunities at several meets in New York. Select members will head to Staten Island to participate in the FastTrack National Invitational while others will be in Utica for the Blue & Orange Invitational.
