INDIANA, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's swimming team finished fourth out of six teams both the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational and the IUP Last Chance Meet. They scored 229.5 points in the invite and 256 in the meet.
John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invite:
The team started out in the 200-yard individual medley with
Ella Dittmar (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finishing fourth.
Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) was featured in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in fifth place.
Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) swam well in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing third place with a time of 1:01.98.
Maddie Fletcher (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington County),
Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and
Rachel Cunningham (Hanover, Pa./South Western) were also featured in the race.
Vanessa Valli raced her way to third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final of 1:07.39.
Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) took third place in the 200-yard butterfly. Bloomsburg was all over the 50-yard freestyle event. Cunningham took second, Linsey placed third and Valli finished fourth. Sid Beers also scored in the race.
IUP Last Chance Meet:
Bloomsburg started this meet with a good showing from Holmes, finishing fourth in the 400-yard individual medley. Valli placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a final of 1:00.55. The Huskies also had scoring from McBlain and Linsey in this event.
Morgan Keefer (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York) won in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a 1:57.69 time.
Sarah Pickel (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) was featured in the 200-yard backstroke, taking fourth. Martin also scored in the race.
The Huskies wrapped up their competition with Valli,
Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and
Avery Wenzel (Reading, Pa./Wilson) all scoring in the 200-yard breaststroke. Also, Linsey succeeded in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the competition with a 54.13 time. Keefer was not far behind, placing second at 54.84.
On the Horizon:
The Huskies will travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to face Susquehanna University on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
