COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Bloomsburg field hockey team holds on to its No. 6 national ranking in the latest unveiling of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll on Tuesday.
The Huskies moved to 4-0 on the season following a pair of one-goal games last week. Bloomsburg began the week with a 4-3 victory at Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday in the home opener. The Huskies continued their homestand on Sunday, shifting from a high-scoring contest to a 1-0 win in overtime against Franklin Pierce.
Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) had another strong week leading the Bloomsburg attack, finishing with two goals and an assist. The senior contributed to both first-quarter goals for the Huskies in the victory over the Panthers. Bush followed it up on Sunday with the overtime winner following a scoreless first 60 minutes of action. Seven players had a point for Bloomsburg against Adelphi, including
Kaylyn Elliott (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights),
Laura Albert (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), and
Lexy Freed (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove), who found the back of the cage with under two minutes in regulation to hand the Panthers the defeat.
Alyxandra Flick (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) assisted the game-winner on Wednesday, while
Raegan Iasiello (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) and
Juliana Racobaldo (Mullica Hill, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) tallied assists, the first career point for Racobaldo.
On Sunday, despite a notable 34-19 shot advantage over the Ravens and a 19-1 edge in shots on target, the Huskies escaped with a 1-0 lead just under two minutes into overtime. Elliott started the sequence by dispossessing a Franklin Pierce player in the midfield. After taking a few steps, the midfielder played a pass into open space for Bush, who carried it into the circle and slotted home the finish.

The Bloomsburg field hockey team is back on the road with a trip to upstate New York, heading to Rochester to take on Roberts Wesleyan on Friday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m., before traveling to Buffalo to face off with D'Youville at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20.
