MILLERSVILLE-The Bloomsburg University wrestling team opened the 2009-10 dual meet season with a sweep of two matches on Saturday. The Huskies beat Boston University, 26-9, and Millersville, 40 - (-1), at Millersville.
Against the Boston University Terriers the Huskies won six of the first seven bouts and then closed out the match with a pin by heavyweight Zac Walsh (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) who won in 6:34. It was the first collegiate pin for Walsh.
In the match with the Marauders the Huskies cruised to an easy win taking nine of the 10 bouts. Freshman Dan Gaylord (Vestal, NY/Vestal) (Vestal, NY/Vestal) won by sudden victory at 133 pounds by an 11-3 score, while red-shirt freshmen Josh Roosa (Mountaintop/Crestwood) (Mountaintop/Crestwood) won by major decision at 149 pounds. Bloomsburg closed out the victory with wins by fall from Jacob Dabashinky (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) and Walsh.
Bloomsburg, 2-0, will travel to Penn State on Nov. 15 to face the Nittany Lions starting at noon.
