BLOOMSBURG - The men's and women's swim teams hosted their season finale against East Stroudsburg University and Drexel University at the Nelson Field House Pool on Saturday. This tri-meet marked the last home meet for the 2009-10 Husky seniors and there were many career best times.
For the women against East Stroudsburg, Allie Reed (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) had two individual first place finishes in the 50-free with a time of 25.05 and the 100-free with a time of 54.48. Reed was also part of the first place 200-medley relay team of Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford), Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) and Madeline Barlow (Yardley/Pennsbury), who finished in a time of 1:51.69. The Huskies swept the 200-free and the 200-IM. In the 200-free, Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) took first with a time of 1:59.63, Julia DeVincent (Maple Gen/Upper Dublin) took second in 2:02.92, and Kayla Weisenbach (Lincoln University/Avon Grove) finished third in 2:03.21. In the 200-IM Grawe finished first in a time of 2:17.17 and Kelsey Brooker (Stevens/Cocalico) took second in a time of 2:18.10. Other first place finishers for the Huskies included Ashley Carsia (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) in the 500-free in 5:13.79 and Barlow in the 100-fly in a time of 1:00.87. Senior Katie Liebig (Saylorsburg/Stroudsburg) swam her career best in the 200-fly with a time of 2:23.40, while sophomore Kelly Duggan (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) had two career best swims in the 100-breast with a time of 1:13.22 and the 200-breast with a time of 2:40.02.
For the men against Drexel, Ryan Lightner (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) (Lebanon/Cedar Crest), Nick Ortlieb (North Wales/North Penn) (North Wales/North Penn), Juan Castaneda (Shamokin/Shamokin Area) (Shamokin/Shamokin Area), and David Mancinelli (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) (Plymouth Meeting/Westmont Hilltop) led the Huskies with a first place finish in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:39.22. Mancinelli also took first in the 50-free with a time of 22.68, while Jeremy Frey (Pipersville/Central Bucks East) (Pipersville/Central Bucks East) finished first in the 100-back in a time of 54.67. Other notable performances by the Huskies came from Ortlieb and Tim Dorsch (Schwenksville/Souderton Area) (Schwenksville/Souderton Area) with second and third place finishes in the 100-breast. Ortlieb finished second with a time of 1:01.89, while Dorsch came in third at 1:02.64. Ben Safran (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) took second in the 200-fly with a time of 1:59.58, while John King (Ridley Park/Ridley) (Ridley Park/Ridley) finished second in the 500-free with a time of 4:53.80.
The Huskies will swim at the PSAC Championships in Chambersburg, Pa from February 18-21 at 10 a.m.
