Men's Basketball Falls To Chestnut Hill, 88-73

BLOOMSBURG – Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport, Williamsport) paced the Huskies with 20 points, but it was not enough as the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team fell to Chestnut Hill, 88-73, Saturday evening at the Nelson Field House.

The Griffins took the quick 3-0 lead off the three-pointer from Brandon Williams with 19:25 left in the first half.

After an Antoine Ellison-Love (Williamsport, Loyalsock) lay-up for BU made it 3-2 , the Huskies took their first and only lead of the game at 4-3 after Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown, Norristown) converted his second of two free throws at the 17:39 mark.

Chestnut Hill (1-2) led by as many as 19 points late in the first half as the Huskies trailed at the break 40-22.

In the second half, the Huskies were able to get the Chestnut Hill lead to as little as 11 points at 61-50 after Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) III (Elkton, MD, Elkton) dunked the basketball and converted on a three-point play with 7:47 remaining in the game.

Down 14 points after a Jordan dunk at 77-63 at the 2:52 mark in the second half, Williams iced the contest with a three-pointer on the assist from Trenton Davidheiser to push the lead back to 17 points for the Griffins.

Jordan finished with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, going 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Webster added 18 points on 8-of-12 from the floor and a team-high nine rebounds. Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD, Snow Hill), seeing his first action in the 2010-11 season, posted 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 2-of-3 from three-point range. He also added a team-high six assists.

Dan Comas led the Griffins with a game-high 23 points while Davidheiser tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Williams added 17 points and Mark DiRugeris had 17 points.

Bloomsburg (1-2) returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23, as the Huskies travel to take on the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
