Baseball Team Falls to Chestnut Hill

NORTH WALES,PA—The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost to Chestnut Hill College by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday in a game played with wood bats. The game was called with two outs in the bottom of the seventh due to darkness.
 
The Huskies had a chance to score in the first inning when Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg) led off the game with a triple, but was thrown out a home trying to score on a fly ball by Tony Donofry (Newtown, Council Rock North). The Griffins did get on the board with a run in the bottom of the first and two more in both the second and third innings and one more in the fourth for a 6-0 lead.
 
Bloomsburg scored in the top of the fifth inning. Gino Wise (Mechanicsburg)reached second on a two-base error, then scored on a double by Eric Ebert (Holland, Council Rock South ).
 
Chris Tressler (Lewistown, Lewistown) suffered the loss for the Huskies going the first four innings and striking out seven and not allowing a walk. Ebert went 2-3 with an RBI.
 
Bloomsburg, 4-12, will start PSAC East play on Friday hosting West Chester starting at 1 p.m.
