GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three members of the Bloomsburg baseball team were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District ® honorees on Tuesday. The three Bloomsburg selections include junior Matt Freda (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) and redshirt-sophomores Andrew Armstrong (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) and Matt Freda (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional).
Andrew Armstorng is a redshirt-sophomore secondary education major who holds a 3.88 GPA. The Levittown native posted 55 strikeouts across 55.1 innings on the m9iund as a starter this season. Armstrong secured three victories on the year while tossing a trio of complete games.
Matt Freda (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) is a junior Sport Management major who boasts a 3.80 GPA at Bloomsburg. Freda was stellar in the infield in his debut season with the Huskies, amassing a .328 batting average and 43 hits. The Lafayette, New Jersey native also notched a .963 fielding percentage while turning 11 double plays.
Grant Russo (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area) is a redshirt-sophomore finance major who holds a 4.00 GPA. The Sugarloaf native finished the season as a D2CCA All-America Honorable mention, the PSAC East Player of the Year, and claimed numerous first team all-region distinctions. Russo led the team with a .419 batting average and 65 hits.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 23.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
