Baseball Drops Two at West Chester

WEST CHESTER-The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a twinbill to West Chester on Saturday losing by scores of 12-5 and 10-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.

In the opener, the Huskies trailed 2-0 after one inning, but the cut the lead in half when Scott Kacelowicz (Orwigburg, Blue Mountain) singled home Eric Ebert (Holland, Council Rock South )to make it a 2-1 game. After West Chester added a run in the home second to make it 3-1, Bloomsburg railed to take a 4-3 lead with three runs in the top of the fifth. Chris Tressler (Lewistown, Lewistown) tripled home two runs with Tony Donofry (Newtown, Council Rock North) bringing in Tressler with an RBI single.

The Golden Rams came back with nine runs over the next two innings to take a 12-4 lead. Bloomsburg got one run back in the seventh when Donofry had an RBI single for his second run batted in of the game.

In game two the Huskies lost 10-2 when Golden Ram starter Dave Steig pitched a two-hitter. Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg)broke the up the no-hit bid by Steig with a single in the sixth and later scored on a ground out by Donofry. In the seventh, Devin McLaughlin (Bloomsburg, Bloomsburg) had an RBI single for the Huskies second run of the game.

Bloomsburg will host Shippensburg on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in a PSAC East doubleheader.
