Huskies Split with Clarion

BU falls 12-8 in opener before 8-7 comeback win in game two

DUE WEST, SC-Bloomsburg University split a double header with Clarion, losing 12-8 in game one before rallying from behind to win 8-7 in game two. The games were played at Erskine College.

The Huskies held a two-run lead in the fourth inning before the Golden Eagles scored six runs on six hits to take the lead. Down by four, Bloomsburg came back in the seventh to score three runs before leaving the bases loaded with a fly out to the warning track to end the comeback. Senior Tony Donofry (Newtown, Council Rock North)went 4-for-5 with three RBI while junior Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg)  went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Down 7-2 entering the sixth inning, the Huskies started their rally, getting six over the final two innings, including five in the final inning to take the victory. Ianiero and freshman Eric Ebert (Holland, Council Rock South ) each had RBI doubles in the final inning while freshman Devin McLaughlin (Bloomsburg, Bloomsburg)  added an RBI triple. Junior David Langton (Mount Carmel)started and went six innings, picking up the win, while junior Mike Rossetti (Phillipsburg, NJ, Phillipsburg) got the final three outs, posting the save.

The Huskies (4-9) return to the field on Monday when they play Erskine.
