KUTZTOWN—The Bloomsburg University baseball team split a twinbill with ninth-ranked Kutztown on Sunday winning 3-2 after dropping the opener 13-0.
In game two the Huskies broke out on top with a single run in the top of third inning. With two outs
Chris Tressler (Lewistown, Lewistown) and
Jerry Lloyd (Mifflinburg, Mifflinburg Area) hit back-to-back singles putting runners at the corners.
Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg, Blue Mountain) then hit an infield single scoring Tressler with the game's first run.
Kuztown reached Bloomsburg starter
Joe Crossin (Fairless Hills, Pennsbury) for two runs in the bottom of the third to go on top 2-1. Bloomsburg tied the game in the top of the sixth when Lloyd led off with a homer, then got the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.
In the seventh with one out,
Devin McLaughlin (Bloomsburg, Bloomsburg) and
Keith Meyer (Richboro, Council Rock South) hit back-to-back singles.
Tony Donofry (Newtown, Council Rock North) then reached on a fielder's choice putting runners at first and third. Donofry then stole second with Tressler then working a walk to load the bases. McLaughlin then scored on a wild pitch to put the Huskies on top 3-2.
In the bottom of the seventh Crossin got the Golden Bears in order ending the game with a strikeout. Crossin allowed six hits, walked six and fanned nine in earning the win. Lloyd and Kramer both had two hits in the game for the Huskies.
In game one Nathan Reed tossed a complete game victory and did not allow a hit for Kutztown in the win.
Bloomsburg, 14-28, 9-15 in the PSAC East, plays at Philadelphia University in a single game starting at 3:30 p.m.
