BLOOMSBURG—Shortstop
Tony Donofry (Newtown, Council Rock North)went a combined 6-8 and third baseman
Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg, Blue Mountain) drove in a total of five runs to lead the Bloomsburg University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Washington Adventist on Thursday by scores of 15-9 and 8-0.
In game one Donofry and
Chris Tressler (Lewistown, Lewistown) both went 4-4 with Donofry scoring four times and Tressler three. After giving two runs up to the Shock in the first inning, Bloomsburg tied the game in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Kramer. After Washington Adventist went on top 4-2, the Huskies took their first lead by scoring four times in the home third with
Corey Eisenhart (Dover, Dover) getting a two-run triple.
After the visitors regained the lead 8-7 with four runs in the fifth, the Huskies scored six times in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good.
Keith Meyer (Richboro, Council Rock South)had a two-run double, while Donofry, Tressler and Kramer also added RBI hits in the inning.
Grant Kernaghan (Upper Darby, Upper Darby) picked up the win going the first five innings striking out three and walking one.
In game two,
Vinny Voorhees (Lakaska, New Hope Solebury) scattered five hits and struck out six to pick up a complete game victory. Offensively, Kramer and Tressler both had two runs batted in while
Gino Wise (Mechanicsburg, Mechanicsburg Area) went 3-4 with a run scored.
Locked in a scoreless game, the Huskies got all the runs they would need in the third inning.
Keith Meyer (Richboro/Council Rock South) doubled to start the inning and later scored on a Tressler ground out.
Jerry Lloyd (Mifflinburg, Mifflinburg Area) then doubled and scored on a two-run homer from Kramer to make it 3-0.
The Huskies scored three more in the fourth and two in the fifth to get the win.
Bloomsburg, 16-28, will close out the 2010 season by hosting Philadelphia University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
