Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport, Williamsport) scored a team-high 24 points to lead the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team past host Cheyney University, 93-73, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game on Saturday. With the win, the Huskies improve to 6-10 (2-2 PSAC East), while the Wolves slip to 11-5 (1-3 PSAC East).
In the game's opening minutes, Jordan and
Jamar Smack (State College, State College) combined for the Huskies' first 11 points, as Bloomsburg led 11-10 five and a half minutes into the first period. From there, BU would never relinquish the lead as the Maroon and Gold built a 44-35 lead at halftime.
The second half began with
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown, Norristown) scoring six quick points and
Jesse Betar (Altoona, Altoona) adding another five. With 13:13 to play, the Bloomsburg lead bloated to its largest at 21, as BU led 61-40. Though Cheyney managed to close the gap to nine at 72-63, the Huskies had no trouble holding on to a double-digit win. The 20-point Bloomsburg margin of victory is BU's largest since a 86-36 win over PSU Hazleton on November 29.
Jordan added team-highs of seven rebounds and three steals to go with his two dozen points. Christmas totaled 15 points while Johnson scored 14. Betar tied his career-best with 13 points, scoring on 5 for 6 shooting from the field, including 2 of 2 from three-point territory.
As a team, the Huskies made 32 of 54 shots (59.3%) and excelled at the free-throw line, making 21 of 25 (84.0%) foul shots.
