MEET RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's swim team narrowly lost to Clarion University on Saturday in front of a
packed house on Saturday the Nelson Field House pool losing 136-126.
The meet came down to the final relay, the 400-free. For the Huskies the team of Bridget Hillferty,
Julia DeVincent (Ambler/Upper Dublin),
Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) and
Nicole Martin (Ephrata/Ephrata) just barely missed helping the Huskies post the upset losing by just 0.25 seconds finishing in 3:37.43 to the Golden Eagles 3:37.18.
Overall on the afternoon six Bloomsburg swimmers accounted for 11 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) championship qualifying times. Leading the way was
Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) with three cuts in winning the 1650 and 500 free and posting a second place finish in the 200-fly. Steel won the 1650 in a time of 17:57.82; took first in the 500-free in 5:18.76 and was second in the 200-fly in 2:16.73.
Kesley Brooker had two PSAC cuts, one each in the 100- and 200-fly with a winning 100 time of 1:00.90 and a 200-fly time of 2:19.15. Hilferty came in under the cuts in the 200- and 500-free with marks of 1:59.10 in the 200 and 5:20.23 in the 500.
Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) qualified for PSAC's in the 100- and 200-breast with times of 1:08.92, good for first in the 100 and a time of 2:30.76 in the 200.
Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) and
Julia DeVincent (Ambler/Upper Dublin) achieved cuts in the 50-free and 200-free respectively. Grawe swam 25.04 in the 50, while DeVincent was 1:59.14 in the 200.
Career best swims were turned in by
Ali Luzik (Halifax/Halifax) in the 100-breast with a mark of 1:11.17 and
Kelly Duggan (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) in the 200-breast with a time of 2:36.97.
