HAMPTON, Va.--The Bloomsburg University baseball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 8-2 to Lock Haven University at the Builder Invitational tournament hosted by The Newport News Apprentice School. Originally scheduled for 6 p.m., the game was delayed to a 9 p.m. start due to field delays and concluded late Friday night.
After two scoreless innings, Bloomsburg struck first blood in the bottom of the third.
Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) led off the inning with a double to left center, and
Nick Eversole (Lewistown, Indian Valley) followed with a single to left. Later,
Joey Ianiero (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) came to the plate and brought Kramer home on a sacrifice-fly.
Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) had an RBI-single to bring home pinch runner
Paul Rosa IV (Wyomissing/Wilson), and the Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
The Bald Eagles quickly responded and took control of the game, scoring six in the fourth and another pair of runs in the fifth to open up the 8-2 lead. The final four innings were scoreless for both teams, as Bloomsburg fell for the first time in its 2011 campaign.

Nick Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) had an outstanding day of the mound, pitching a hitless 4 2/3 innings to close the game, recording 1 strikeout and 1 walk in the process.
The Huskies (2-1) continue the Builder Invitational with a 6 p.m. game on Saturday against Kutztown University followed by the tournament's conclusion on Sunday.
