EAST STROUDSBURG--
Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) scored 20 to lead the Huskies, but the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team was no match for East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday, falling 83-64 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action. After the critical loss, the Huskies fall to 10-15 (6-7 PSAC East) on the year and have lost control of their own postseason destiny.
Bloomsburg attained its only lead in the opening seconds of the first half, as
Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) was the first player on the board, hitting a jumper on the first possession of the game.
East Stroudsburg went on a 14-4 run to open up a 14-6 lead. By the midpoint of the period, the Warriors' advantage swelled to 26-13.
The Huskies managed some damage control as the half waned, and at halftime, the East Stroudburg edge had closed to 36-26.
The Warriors came out of the break on a hot streak and scored nine straight to go up 45-26. East Stroudsburg then took a 21-point lead at 52-31 with 13 minutes remaining.
A 5-0 burst by Bloomsburg chipped at the lead, but the Huskies never managed to get their defecit under 15 for the remainder of the game, as the Warriors cruised to the 83-64 win.
Jordan finished with a game-high 20 points and recorded 10 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season. Jordan has now scored in double figures for the last eight games. Johnson was the only other Husky in double-digits, scoring 18 on the night.
For the Warriors, six players scored in double figures, led by Micah Covert with 14.
Bloomsburg wraps up its regular season on Saturday, February 26, with a PSAC East game against West Chester.
If Bloomsburg wins in its final game and Cheyney University falls to Mansfield University, the Huskies will slip into the fourth berth in the East; otherwise, Saturday's game will be the season's last for BU.
