Box Score BOX SCORE

SHIPPENSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team (11-3, 7-2 PSAC) pulled out another close win as they edged the Raiders of Shippensburg (6-9, 3-6 PSAC), 67-66.  Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) scored seven of Bloomsburg's final 12 points, including a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left, to give the Huskies their 11th win of the year.

Shippensburg controlled the first half by never trailing to the Huskies, although there were four ties.  The Raiders took their largest lead as the half came to a close, 33-26.

The beginning of the second half looked to be much of the same as they pushed their lead to 11 points.  However, the Huskies chipped away at the lead by going on a 13-6 run during a five minute stretch, bringing the score to 51-47 with 9:21 to play.

From there the Shippensburg lead hovered around five points until the 1:45 mark when Bloomsburg's Nnamdi Njoku (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) hit a three to tie things up at 63-63.

Following a missed free throw on Shippensburg's next possession, Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) would get sent to the line for a chance to give the Huskies their first lead of the game.  Johnson would hit both free throws attempts to put BU ahead 65-63 with 1:02 remaining.

Shippensburg's Craig Van Scyoc would drain a three with 42 seconds left to put the Raiders back on top, 66-65.  The Huskies would again put the ball in Johnson's hands like they have done in all their late close games this season.

Johnson drew a foul with 30 seconds remaining and connected on both free throw attempts, putting BU on top 67-66.  Shippensburg's Jordan Stasyszyn would have an opportunity for the win as he launched a three at the buzzer but his attempt was no good, leading to a one point win for the Huskies.

With the win, Bloomsburg has won six games by four points or less and are 6-1overall in those games.

Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) and Nnamdi Njoku (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) led the Huskies in scoring with 14 points a piece.  Jordan also grabbed seven boards.  John Schwarz (Delta/Perry Hall) chipped in 12 points from off the bench to go along with five boards.

Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) III was limited to six points but grabbed a game high 11 rebounds and rejected two shots.  Johnson had a season low one assist but scored 11 of his 12 points in the final 8:48 of the game.

Craig Van Scyoc led all scorers with 21 points while Dan Lauber added 17 from off the bench.

Bloomsburg's win caps a four game road trip that the Huskies went 3-1 in.  BU returns to the Nelson Field House this Saturday to take on Cheyney in a PSAC East showdown.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
