BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team (13-4, 9-3 PSAC) had their four game win streak snapped this afternoon as the Huskies fell to West Chester (8-8, 5-7 PSAC), 70-64.
Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) led the Huskies in scoring for the ninth straight game with 16 points.
The first half was highly competitive as neither team took a lead higher than six points. West Chester led for the majority of the half until BU took their first lead with 7:28 remaining. However, it would be the Golden Rams who would enter halftime with the lead at 35-30.
Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) III and
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) paced the Bloomsburg offense as they combined for 16 first half points.
Ed Hall (Washington, DC/Paint Branch) was not far behind with six.
In the second half, West Chester would stretch their lead to 12 points at the 13:44 mark, 51-39. The Huskies responded nicely with a 16-5 run that last for nearly five minutes, cutting the Golden Ram lead to just two points, 57-55.
The Golden Rams would push their lead to six points with 6:51 remaining, 63-57. From there, the Huskies would go on a 7-2 run, shaving the West Chester lead to just one point with 2:53 to play.
Unfortunately for Bloomsburg, the Huskies were held scoreless for the remaining 2:53 of the game, resulting in a 70-64 win for the Golden Rams. During the final 4:57 of play, Bloomsburg was held to just five shots, missing all five.
Jordan scored 14 of his game's 16 points in the second half while
Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) III finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. It was just the third time this season Bloomsburg had been limited to two players scoring double digits.
For West Chester, three players finished with double figures as Carl Johnson led all scorers with 20 points in an effort off the bench. Jon Breeden, also coming off the bench, added another 15 while starter Jaleel Mack scored 17.
The Huskies will be back in action on Wednesday, January 25 as Bloomsburg travels to take on East Stroudsburg in a PSAC East matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
