Reckage’s First Career Goal Lifts Huskies to 1-0 Win over Mansfield

Box Score
BLOOMSBURG – Junior midfielder Kyleigh Reckage (Manasquan, NJ/Wall)'s goal in the 22nd minute proved to be the difference maker as the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team outlasted Mansfield and earned a 1-0 victory Wednesday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Sports Stadium.

The Huskies (6-9-1 overall, 4-8-1 PSAC) came out aggressive against the Mountaineers (3-11-2, 1-10-2) in hopes of finishing out its home slate of games with a win.

With Bloomsburg controlling the ball for most of the opening 20 minutes, junior forward Tara Huber (Orefield/Parkland) sent a pass behind the back line of the Mountie defense to find a sprinting Reckage.  Reckage controlled the ball with no one but the MU goalie in front of her, and sent her first shot into the right side of the net for her first career goal.

Wednesday was Reckage's 42nd career game in the maroon and gold after playing in a career-high 16 her freshman season in 2010.  The goal could not have come at a more opportune time for the Huskies, who ultimately counted on Reckage's score to lift them to victory.

Bloomsburg goalkeeper Danielle Fiorelli (Warrington/Villa Joseph Marie) notched her seventh shutout of the season and made a pair of saves Wednesday to bring her season total to 100.  The sophomore also lowered her goals-against-average to 1.66.

Along with Fiorelli, the defensive line has stayed pretty consistent for the Huskies this season.  Lauren Kreglow (Whitehall/Allentown Central Catholic), Caitlin Raynes (Pennsburg/Upper Perkiomen), and Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland) were three of many Bloomsburg defenders to intercept Mansfield passes Wednesday night and continue to frustrate and disrupt Mansfield attacks.

Huber was active on the offensive end all night.  She racked up nine shots, seven of which were on goal, and tallied the assist on the Reckage goal.  As a team, Bloomsburg outshot Mansfield 17-5.

Mansfield keeper Alexis Wilhelm made nine saves in the setback.

The Huskies close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27 as it travels to East Stroudsburg in the season finale.  Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
