BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's swim team dropped a match to West Chester on Friday 147-115 despite a record setting performance by
Jake Harner (Philadelphia/Father Judge). The Huskies had closed to within four points after event 20 before the Golden Rams pulled away for the victory.
Harner, swimming the 100-breast, set the school record in the event with a time of 57.52 breaking the mark of 58.20 set by Jason Davis in 2002. Harner's time in the 100-breast and the 200-breast, which he won with a mark of 2:11.22, were also both PSAC-qualifying times.
Also turning in a great effort at the meet was
Alex Otero (Allentown/Parkland) who won the 200-free in 1:48.85. The time was one of the best in the event for the Huskies in the last five years.
In the 100-free
Bryan Masilotti (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) took first in a time of 48.50, the top time in the PSAC this season to date.
In the 100-back
Nick Angeny (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) won an event from the outside lane for the second straight meet. Angeny posted a time of 2:04.94 in the 200-IM after winning the 100-back against Shippensburg last week.
Aaron Cancro (Limerick/Spring-Ford) also had a big meet with two PSAC-qualifying performances taking first in the 200-back in 2:03.28 and third in the 100-back in 56.32 seconds. Also,
Tom Malloy (Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) took first in the 200-fly in 2:03.40, also a PSAC qualifying time.
The Huskies, 1-1, will be back in the pool on Friday, Nov. 2 at Gannon.
