Bloomsburg Men Outswim Clarion

MEET RESULTS

CLARION—Sometime scores are deceiving. On Saturday the Bloomsburg University men's swim team would have beaten Clarion University by 19 points if it were not for the diving scores being included in the final results (the Huskies do not have a diving team).  Instead the Golden Eagles, one of the historically strong teams in the PSAC, ended up with a 153-140 win despite the Huskies out-swimming them.

“The guys swam a great meet today,” said head coach Stu Marvin. “I am so proud of the effort they put in today and throughout the season so far.”

The Huskies dominated the backstroke at the meet sweeping not just the 100, but also the 200 events. In the 100, Nick Angeny (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) was first with a mark of 55.73, while Bill Urban (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) was second in 55.95 and Aaron Cancro (Limerick/Spring-Ford) third in 56.34 seconds. In the 200, Cancro touched first in 2:02.70, while Angeny was second in 2:04.34 and Alex Otero (Allentown/Parkland) third in 2:04.45.

In the distance events Brandon Sherbo (Etters/Red Land) was dominant taking first in the 1650-free in 16:42.10, winning by more than 22 seconds. In the 500-free Sherbo was also first in 4:48.75.

Jake Harner (Philadelphia/Father Judge) turned in another solid meet winning the 100-breast in 59.07 seconds, while also winning the 200-breast in 2:12.77 and capping off the day with a win in the 400-IM in 4:20.32.

In addition, Mark DiLemmo (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) won the 200-fly in 2:01.55 with Tom Malloy (Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) second in 2:01.70. DiLemmo also took second in 100-fly in 54.41 seconds. In the 100-free Bryan Masilotti (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) was second in 49.23 seconds and third in the 50-free in 22.05.

Posting PSAC-qualifying marks for the day were Jeremy Frey (Pipersville/Central Bucks East) in the 100-free (49.84); Alex Oteo in the 200-back (2:04.45) and Nick Angeny (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) in the 200-back (2:04.34). Also, Brandon Sherbo (Etters/Red Land) (16;42.10 and Cole Underwood (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) (17:36.98) in the 1650-free
