Huskies Come Up Short Against Rival Millersville

MILLERSVILLE-Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team was defeated by Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival Millersville, Saturday by a final score of 62-49.

Bloomsburg (2-5, 0-3 PSAC) forced 19 turnovers in the game. Millersville (7-2, 2-0) has now won seven consecutive games after starting the season 0-2.

Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) scored 12 points and extended his streak of consecutive games with a three-pointer to 17, and Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) added a team-high 13 points for Bloomsburg.

In his second career start, Armand Leaks (Philadelphia/The Shipley School) scored five points and had a steal and a blocked shot.

The Marauders were led by Anthony Coleman, who finished with a game-high 19 points and five rebounds. Millersville's Brandon Belt scored 13 points, and Elijah Obade had a game-high 10 boards.

Bloomsburg started the game on a 9-2 run, punctuated by a strong one-handed dunk by Jordan.

The Marauders followed that up with an 8-2 run, but Haigler and Leaks each hit a pair of free throws to give the Huskies a five-point lead with 8:33 to play in the first half.

With 3:48 remaining in the half, Millersville began a 10-2 run that gave them a 27-25 lead entering halftime.

To start the second half, the Huskies scored six unanswered points, taking a four-point lead with 16:13 to go in the game.

The teams traded the lead back and forth for the next five minutes until Millersville went on a brief run and took the lead for good with 11:04 remaining.

Over the remainder of the game, the Huskies were unable to cut into the Marauder lead as Millersville closed the game on an 11-6 run.

The Huskies will travel to Indiana, Pennsylvania to take on the Crimson Hawks on Tuesday, Dec. 8 in a PSAC matchup starting at 7:30 p.m.
