Huskies Stumble on the Road Against Marauders, 75-68

Box Score BOX SCORE

MILLERSVILLE—Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) III of the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team (14-6, 10-5 PSAC) scored his 1,000th career point as the Huskies fell on the road to the Marauders of Millersville University (7-12, 5-10 PSAC), 75-68.  Three Bloomsburg players finished in double figures as Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) led all scorers with 24 points.

Webster finished tonight's game with 11 points, giving him 1,003 career points.  He becomes the 24th player in Bloomsburg University men's basketball history to score 1,000 career points.  Webster is the first BU player to reach the 1,000 point plateau since Matt Jefferson did it in 2007.

Bloomsburg struggled in the first half as the Marauders scored the game's first nine points.  The Huskies would outscore Millersville 12-4 over a five and half minute stretch to cut the lead to just one.

The Marauders would eventually build their lead into double-digits and take a 40-28 lead into halftime.  Much of the BU deficit can be attributed to sub par shooting as the Huskies went 10-for-32 from the field in the half.  Jordan paced BU in the first half with eight points.

In the second half, Millersville scored a three pointer to take their largest lead of the game at 15 points.  Millersville would eventually take a 13 point lead with 16:52 to play in the game.  29 seconds later, Webster would score his 1,000th career point on a layup.

Bloomsburg put together a 15-3 run, cutting the Marauder lead to just three points with 9:32 remaining.  During the run, four different BU players scored as Webster led the charge with five points.  Nnamdi Njoku (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) added another four points.

Millersville built their lead back up to six points with 6:56 to play.  A little over three minutes later, BU's Jordan drained a three-ball, bringing the score to 64-63.  It was the closest Bloomsburg had been to the Marauders since the 10:45 mark of the first half.

Unfortunately for the Huskies, they would be outscored 11-5 in the final 3:17 of the game which led to a 75-68 loss.  It is the first time this season Bloomsburg has lost two straight games.

Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) led all scorers with 24 points while grabbing seven boards.  Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) was next in scoring for the Huskies with 13.  He also had five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.  Webster recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Marauders, Mike Seibert and Demond Vance led the team with 15 points a piece.  Elijah Obade was the high man for rebounds with 10.

Bloomsburg will end their two game skid as they travel to take on Cheyney University this Saturday, February 4.  Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
