HAMPTON, VA—The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost another close game to Kutztown, 3-2. With the loss Bloomsburg finishes as the runner-up at the Apprentice School Builder Invitational.
Bloomsburg went up 2-0 in the top of the first inning.
Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) drove in one of Bloomsburg's two runs as
Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) scored on the Kramer single.
Keith Meyer (Richboro/Council Rock South) scored the other run in the inning.
Kutztown would get on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, cutting the BU lead to just one. The Huskies would hold on to the one run lead until two innings later when the Golden Bears tied the game at two apiece on an unearned run.
The Huskies were unable to score a run in the eighth or ninth inning as the game remained tied at 2-2 entering the bottom of the ninth. Bloomsburg gave up two walks in the inning and would eventually lose on a two out walk-off single.
Starting pitcher
Matt Kline (Sugarloaf/Hazleton) had a strong outing for the Huskies. He threw six innings of one run ball while striking out five batters. Kramer was 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI.
Nickolas Eversole (Lewistown/Indian Valley) went 1-for-3 while Ravel went 1-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.
Bloomsburg will be back at it as they take on IUP on March 3rd at 9:00 a.m. in the first game of the Ram Invitational in Shepherdstown, WV.
