BLOOMSBURG—Four players from the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team (15-6, 11-5 PSAC) finished with double figures as the Huskies downed Cheyney University (3-17, 2-14 PSAC), 82-72.
Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) led all scorers with 22 points while
Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) recorded his third double-double in four games with a season high 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Bloomsburg controlled the first half, never trailing at any point and only allowed the score to be tied four times. At the 6:25 mark of the half BU led 24-22 but used a 9-2 run to claim a 33-24 lead, their largest of the half. From there Bloomsburg would take a 37-32 lead into halftime.
Cheyney opened the second half by scoring three straight points, cutting the Husky lead to just two. However, Bloomsburg would piece together a 17-4 run over the next eight minutes to take a commanding 54-39 lead.
The Husky lead would hover around 10 points for the remainder of the game, only dropping into single digits with 31 seconds to play. Bloomsburg would eventually claim an 82-72 win.
Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) led all scorers with 22 points while grabbing nine rebounds and rejecting three shots. Of his 22 points, 10 came from free throws, hitting 10-of-11 shots.
Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) was next in scoring for the Huskies, registering a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. His 21 points was a season high.
Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD/Snow Hill) added another 12 points in addition to four assists.
John Schwarz (Delta/Perry Hall) chipped in 10 points as Bloomsburg's fourth and final double digit performer.
For the Wolves of Cheyney, Brandon Baylor and Jason Sabb each scored 19 points apiece. Sabb also pulled down a game high 13 rebounds.
With the win Bloomsburg ends a two-game skid, their longest losing streak of the season. The Huskies will be back in action this Wednesday, February 8th as they host Shippensburg at the Nelson Field House. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
