PHILADELPHIA, PA –The Bloomsburg University baseball team (6-4) earned their sixth win of the season as they beat Philadelphia University (3-7), 4-2.
Bryan Morris (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic) picked up the win for the Huskies as he threw five innings of two run ball, striking out five batters en route to his second win of the year.
Bloomsburg got the scoring started in the top of the second inning as the Huskies put three runs up on the scoreboard. BU's first two batters in the inning reached safely on a walk and a single before
Josh Schroeder (Scranton/West Scranton) doubled down the left field line to bring in one run.
After a walk to load the bases, BU scored their second and third runs of the inning on a fielding error by Philadelphia's second basemen.
Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was credited with just one RBI on the play.
Philadelphia cut the Bloomsburg lead to one with back-to-back one run innings in the fourth and fifth. Of the two runs, only one was earned.
The Huskies scored an insurance run in the eighth inning to make it 4-2 as
Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) singled to center field to bring in a run.
A.J. Stump (Reading/Antietam) scored the run after pinch running for
Nickolas Eversole (Lewistown/Indian Valley) who walked to lead off the inning.
Cody Heane (McClure/Indian Valley) closed out the eighth and ninth innings by not allowing a run while striking out two batters as he picked up the save as the Huskies won, 4-2.

Bryan Morris (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic) got the win today as he went five innings, striking out five and allowing just one earned run. At the plate Schroeder and Smith each went 2-for-5 and drove in a run apiece.
With the win Bloomsburg has now won four straight and will put their win streak on the line as they take on Franklin Pierce University tomorrow in Philadelphia, PA. Game-time is scheduled for noon.
