BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University baseball team (14-12, 4-6 PSAC East) split a PSAC East doubleheader with Shippensburg (20-12, 6-4 PSAC East). Bloomsburg earned a walk-off 4-3 win in game one but fell in the second leg of the doubleheader, 5-2.

GAME ONE
Bloomsburg opened game one with a three run first inning to take a 3-0 lead on the Raiders.
Keith Meyer (Richboro/Council Rock South) led off the inning with a single through the left side which was followed by a sacrifice bunt by
Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson).
Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) moved Meyer over to third with a single and
Vince Smarrelli (Mt. Airy, MD/Urbana) drove Meyer in for the game's first run on a double to right field.
Smarrelli would get tagged out on his double as he slid through the bag, leading to Bloomsburg's second out. BU catcher
Nickolas Eversole (Lewistown/Indian Valley) tripled on the next at-bat to bring in Kramer, putting the Huskies ahead 2-0.
Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) made it 3-0 as he singled to center field scoring Eversole.
Starting pitcher
Kyle Hunter (Lehighton/Lehighton) put zeroes on the scoreboard through the game's first four innings. He was tested in the third inning as he saw the bases loaded with just one out. However, Hunter would get the final two Shippensburg batters to strike out and fly out to get out of the jam.
Despite retiring the first two batters, Hunter found themself in another jam in the fifth inning as two errors put men on first and second. Shippensburg's Simon Beloff took advantage of the extended inning by hitting a two run triple, cutting the lead to 3-2.
Shippensburg evened things up in the sixth inning as Tyler Basso scored from third on a heads up running play. With the game tied Bloomsburg brought
Vinny Voorhees (New Hope/New Hope Solebury) in for a relief appearance. Voorhees closed out the sixth inning and would get the Raiders to go down 1-2-3 in the seventh.
Bloomsburg's
Tim Kurucz (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) ,
Josh Schroeder (Scranton/West Scranton), and Meyer strung together consecutive singles to lead off the seventh inning. With the bases loaded Ravel stepped into the box looking to bring home the winning run. In an uneventful at-bat, Ravel was hit by the pitch which drove in the winning run.
Voorhees was credited with the win after 1.1 innings of work with a strikeout. At the plate Meyer, Kramer, Smarrelli, and Smith all had two hits apiece, combining for eight of Bloomsburg's 11 hits.
GAME TWO
Shippensburg took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a one-out Jimmy Miller single. The Huskies answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out RBI single to right center field by Schroeder that drove in Kurucz.
One inning later the Huskies took a 2-1 lead as Smarrelli scored on a wild pitch. Smarrelli had the only hit in the inning and stole his team leading 10th base of the season.
However, Shippensburg would go on to score three runs in the fifth and another in sixth as the Raiders claimed a 5-2 win. Bloomsburg starting pitcher
Bryan Morris (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic) threw a complete game as he struck out two batters. He now owns a 4-2 record on the season.
At the plate, Meyer went 3-for-4 while Kramer and Smarrelli each came up with two hits apiece. Smarrelli and Kurucz scored both of BU's runs.
For Shippensburg, Pat Kregeloh improved to 2-1 in six innings of work with five strikeouts while Kody Kibler picked up his fourth save of the season.
Bloomsburg will take on Shippensburg in another doubleheader tomorrow, March 31st as they travel to Shippensburg, PA for a 1:00 p.m. start for game one.
