BOX SCORE

PHILADELPHIA—Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) went 2-4 and drove in two runs and Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) had three RBI to lead the Bloomsburg University baseball team to an 11-9 win over Philadelphia University on Friday. The game was called after eight innings due to darkness.

The Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the first with Kramer driving in Keith Meyer (Richboro/Council Rock South) with a single and Nickolas Eversole (Lewistown/Indian Valley) plating Kramer with ground out. Bloomsburg scored a single run in the second on an RBI double by Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) before the Rams scored a run to make it 3-1. After the Huskies added a single run in the third on a solo homer by Kramer, the Rams got on in the third and four in fourth to put the home team on top 6-4.

Bloomsburg regained the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth. The Huskies loaded the bases with one out when Josh Schroeder (Scranton/West Scranton) and Meyer got back-to-back walks to force in two runs tying the game at 6-6. Ravel then followed with an RBI ground out putting the Huskies back on top 7-6.

Philadelphia tied the game at 7-7 with a run in the bottom of the fifth. But the Huskies went back on top 8-7 in the sixth after manufacturing a run. Tom Richards (Scranton/West Scranton) led off the inning with single, moved to second on a wild pitch, took third on a fly out and scored on a single by Vince Smarrelli (Mt. Airy, MD/Urbana).

In the seventh the Huskies scored three times to lead 11-7. Loading the bases with no outs, Ravel singled up the middle scoring Smith and Schroeder. Later in the inning Richards had an RBI ground sending home the third run of the frame.

Philadelphia scored twice in the bottom of the eighth without hit, but left the bases loaded after Nick Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) got a fly out to end the inning. The game was then called due to darkness.

Matt Dean got the win in relief with Donofry earning the save, his first of the season.

The Huskies, 5-4, will play at Philadelphia University again on Saturday.
