LOCK HAVEN—The Bloomsburg University baseball team won game two with Lock Haven 11-1 to earn a split of its doubleheader on Sunday. The Huskies dropped the opener 5-4 in eight innings.
In game two the teams were scoreless into the top of the third inning when the Huskies put six runs on the board.
Josh Schroeder (Scranton/West Scranton) walked to lead off the inning, stole second and then scored on a single by
Aaron Russell (Montoursville/Montoursville).
Keith Meyer (Richboro/Council Rock South) then doubled home Russell for a 2-0 lead.
Tim Ravel (Sinking Spring/Wilson) reached on an infield single with both Meyer and Ravel moving up on wild pitch.
Jarrod Kramer (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) then doubled home both runners for a 4-0 lead. Later in the inning
Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) doubled home two runs for a 6-0 lead.
Lock Haven got one run back in the bottom of the third, but the Huskies scored two in the fourth and three in the seventh to get the 11-1 win.
Eric Geedey (Elverson/Twin Valley) went the first five innings to earn the win with
Nick Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) and
Tyler Hill (Lehighton/Lehighton) each throwing one inning of relief.
In the opener the Huskies lost 5-4 in eight innings. The Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Ravel walked and Kramer singled.
Vince Smarrelli (Mt. Airy, MD/Urbana) then singled scoring Ravel with Kramer later scoring on a sacrifice fly by
Nickolas Eversole (Lewistown/Indian Valley).
Lock Haven came back with a run in the first and three more in the third to go up 4-2. Bloomsburg cut the lead to 4-3 when
Brad Smith (Morgantown/Twin Valley) reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a wild pitch.
In the top of the seventh the Huskies put together to a two-out rally to tie the game. Ravel and Kramer singled to put runners on first and second. Smarrelli then singled to score Ravel with the game tying run.
In the eighth the Huskies got a runner on, but could not score, while Lock Haven got a two-out double to win 5-4.
Bloomsburg, 24-17, will play at West Chester on Friday in a PSAC Eastern Division matchup.
