Huskies Wrap Up Home Stand Wednesday against East Stroudsburg

BLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg University men's and women's basketball teams will host East Stroudsburg University and hope to get back in the win column on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at the Nelson Field House in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action. Tipoff for the women's game is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast live on WHLM (930-AM) based out of Bloomsburg with Jim Doyle and Larry White calling all the action. In addition, listeners throughout the world can listen to the game live on BU's website at www.buhuskies.com. The pre-game show will begin 20 minutes before tipoff.
 
WOMEN
 
MATCH UP: The Huskies (13-4, 9-4 PSAC)  are coming off a six-point loss to West Chester, snapping a six-game winning streak and an 18-game streak at home.  They will look to continue their previous success against the Warriors (5-12, 4-9) on Wednesday.  BU has won six in a row in the series and hasn't fell to ESU at Nelson Field House since the 2008-09 season.  During the six-game streak against ESU, BU has won by an average margin of 23.67 points including a 38-point win at home in the 2010-11 season.
 
BU'S LAST TIME OUT: Bloomsburg fell to West Chester, 65-59, on Saturday. Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) led the team in scoring with 12, followed by Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) with 10. The Huskies lost senior starting point guard Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland/Hazleton Area) in the first half due to injury.
 
SCORING LEADERS: Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) ranks fourth in BU history with 1,711 career points.  She needs three to move into third and tie Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South)Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) ranks 12th in school history and needs 23 to tie Michelle Albanese for 11th.
 
GETTING OTHERS INVOLVED: Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) dished out a career-high six assists against West Chester.  Of players coming off the bench, Simmons is second with 27 assists behind Maggie Borski (Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy)'s 37.
 
HIGH SCORING OFFENSE: Bloomsburg leads the PSAC in scoring at 75.7 points per game, and is on pace to break the school-record of 73.4 set last season.
 
WHEELIN' AND DEALIN': Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) is third in the PSAC in scoring (14.9), second in three-point percentage (.365), and third in free throw percentage (.854).  She had her streak snapped of 20 straight games with a three-pointer snapped against West Chester.
 
MEN
 
MATCH UP: The Huskies (5-12, 3-10 PSAC) are coming off their first overtime loss of the season after winning their first three.  BU holds a 29-game lead in the all-time series with the Warriors (15-2, 12-1), and swept the season series last year.  Each of the last three games between BU and ESU at Nelson Field House have gone to overtime with Bloomsburg winning two of three. ESU's last win at Nelson was a 101-96, double overtime win in the 2009-10 season. Nnamdi Njoku (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had the game-winning tip-in in overtime to give BU an 80-78 victory.
 
BU'S LAST TIME OUT:   Daniel Kusnyer (Wexford/Hillsborough CC) made a three-pointer with 4.2 seconds left to send the game into overtime, but Bloomsburg fell in overtime to West Chester, 88-82 on Saturday. Zach Sheetz (Landisville/Hempfield) scored a career-high 27 points including six three-pointers and a perfect 9-for-9 performance at the free throw line. Nasir Jones (Philadelphia/Franklin Learning Center) scored a career-high 14 points including a 6-for-7 performance at the free throw line, and led the team with a career-high six rebounds. Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) dished out a game-high eight assists and had a pair of steals.
 
SHEETZ CAN SHOOT: Zach Sheetz (Landisville/Hempfield) has made a three-pointer in each of his eight games started this season.  He is already second on the team in three-pointers made (27) and leads the team in three-point percentage (.491).  Sheetz is averaging 10.6 points per game for fourth on the team. 
 
LIGHTS OUT LORENZO: Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) is 12th in the PSAC at 15.2 points per game.  Christmas' 2.6 three-pointers per game lead the PSAC, and his 35.1 percent from beyond the arc ranks fifth in the PSAC.  He is fourth on the Bloomsburg all-time three-pointers list with 142. He has also made a three-pointer in 25 straight games.
 
THREE IS BETTER THAN TWO: The Huskies are third in the PSAC with 6.7 three-pointers per game. They hit a season-high nine in their win over Chestnut Hill.
 
BENCH SCORING: After topping the 20-point mark just two times in its first 10 games, BU has produced 20 or more bench points in six of its last seven games. BU had a season-high 34 points off the bench against West Chester and averages 17.6 points per game off the bench.
