Box Score HTML Boxscore

ERIE – Junior guard Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) poured in a game- and season-high 24 points including four three-pointers, but the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team dropped an 81-55 decision to Gannon University Friday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action at the Hammermill Center.

The Huskies (2-8, 0-6 PSAC) held their own in the opening 20 minutes; however, the Golden Knights (10-2, 4-2) outscored Bloomsburg 46-26 in the second half to earn the lopsided victory.

Christmas' effort on the offensive end marked a season-best in scoring as well as his first game scoring 20 or more points.  He was 8-for-18 from the field and had a pair of assists.  With his 4-for-10 performance from beyond the arc, Christmas extended his streak to 20 consecutive games with a three-pointer.

Junior Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) came off the bench for the first time this season and chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  The Huskies' second-leading scorer left the game late in the second half with an apparent ankle injury.

Sophomore guard Zach Sheetz (Landisville/Hempfield), who had played in just two games entering Friday, made his first career start.  He opened the game with a three-pointer to get Bloomsburg off to a great start as he finished with six points off a pair of triples.

Bloomsburg shot a season-low 31 percent from the field against Gannon, the third time in the last four games the Huskies failed to shoot over 32 percent from the floor.  Gannon responded to Bloomsburg's poor shooting by making 59.3 percent of its shots including 65.5 percent in the second half.

The Huskies led by as many as four at the 6:17 mark in a back-and-forth first half.  Gannon then went on a 13-3 run to lead by six with under two minutes remaining as it took a 35-29 advantage heading into the break.

In the second half, Bloomsburg simply could not execute on either end of the floor as Gannon played well from start to finish.  It held a 20-point lead midway through the second half, and led by a game-high 26 points as the final buzzer sounded.

Gannon had five players finish in double figures led by Darrell Blanton with 17.  Jabs Newby dished out a game-high 11 assists as the Golden Knights made 19 of their 29 shots in the second half.

Bloomsburg will look to get back in the win column Saturday night as it won't have to leave the city of Erie for its next game.  The Huskies take on Mercyhurst University in its sixth straight road game with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
