BLOOMSBURG – Bloomsburg University senior
Tara Huber (Orefield/Parkland) turned in a Senior Night to remember, powering the Huskies' 4-2 women's soccer victory over visiting Lock Haven by tying the school record for goals in a single game after finding the net four times.
Huber put the Huskies (7-9-0, 5-9-0 PSAC) on the board early, striking in the 10th minute. She tallied the first goal off a give and go from
Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) for the 1-0 lead.
Lock Haven (4-11-1, 3-10-1 PSAC) would even the score quickly. Madison Taylor scored unassisted in the 14th minute for the tie after taking control of a loose ball in front.
Just six minutes later Huber would strike again, taking a short pass from
Jamie Vaniver (Holland/Council Rock South) and beat the Haven keeper for the 2-1 lead.
Shortly before halftime Huber gave the Huskies some breathing room.
Sierra Fortunato (Kennett Square/Unionville) passed up the middle to Huber in the 42nd minute, allowing the senior forward to do the rest for a 3-1 lead at intermission.
Huber put herself into the Bloomsburg record books in the 49th minute, scoring off a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the contest. She becomes the fifth player in Huskies history to record four goals in a single game with Becky Ritter last accomplishing the feat vs. Millersville in 2004.
Lock Haven scored in the 76th minute on a goal from Jamie Hunter, but could not overcome its deficit.
Bloomsburg held a 14-10 edge in shots while both teams were awarded five corner kicks.
Danielle Fiorelli (Warrington/Villa Joseph Marie) earned the victory in goal with four saves.
Saturday's performance moved Huber into eighth place all-time in school history for career goals (30) and points (77).
