SCOUTING PENN STATE HAZLETON
Penn State Hazleton opened its 2013-14 schedule with a loss at Lehigh Carbon CC, 96-78, on Thursday evening. No statistics were made available from that contest. PSU-Hazleton is looking to make its third straight postseason appearance playing in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), losing two seniors from last season in Alex Akaboju and Danny Fogarty. The Lions return a veteran group led by seniors Diego Jimenez and Casey Petty. Sophomores Dwayne Vines, Ashkan Naderi and Ricky Gil will also return after solid freshman campaigns.

THE BLOOMSBURG-PSU-HAZLETON SERIES
Bloomsburg leads, 8-0

The Huskies hold an unblemished record in the series vs. PSU-Hazleton, winning all eight meetings between the two schools in men's basketball. Last season was a nailbiter as the Huskies came away with a 79-78 victory in Hazleton. BU had three players score 17 or more points - Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) (18), Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) (17) and Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) (17). The last time the two schools met in Nelson Field House, Bloomsburg won 87-41 in the 2011-12 season. Jamar Smack (Philadelphia/State College) had 12 points and Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown) added 10.

WHEN LAST WE MET
Last year's matchup was close throughout as neither team led by more than seven points. Up one with 13 seconds to play, freshman point guard Charles Haigler (Charles Town, WV/Hargrave Military Academy) was fouled at the top of the key for a one-and-one attempt and a chance to give the Huskies a three-point lead.  Haigler missed the front end as junior forward Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport/Williamsport) grabbed the rebound but missed the follow up. PSU got the ball with 6.4 seconds to play, drove the length of the floor, but Miguel Rodriguez's long range attempt at the buzzer was off the mark as great Huskies defense gave BU the victory.

UP NEXT
Bloomsburg remains at home to host Lincoln (PA) on Saturday evening inside Nelson Field House at 7:30 p.m. The Huskies are in the midst of three straight on their home floor, also hosting Millersville in the PSAC East opener on Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
