Preview: Huskies Swim Teams Take on Edinboro at Home

               Women : Bloomsburg (0-2, 0-1 PSAC) vs Edinboro (4-0)

LAST TIME OUT
Men- (Meet Recap) The Huskies lost to Lehigh 169-54 and to West Chester 190-47 at the season-opening meet on Oct. 25. At this meet the men's team had 15 PSAC qualifying marks.  Four swimmers managed to hit two qualifying marks each.  Alex Otero (Allentown/Parkland) qualified in the 200-free with a time of 1:48.45. Otero also qualified in the 200-back with a time of 2:04.34. Brandon Sherbo (Etters/Red Land) qualified in the 1000-free with a time of 10:23.90 and in the 500-free with a time of 4:58.32. Tyler Gross (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) swam a 2:13.36 to qualify in the 200-breast and a 2:02.63 to qualify in the 200-IM. The fourth swimmer to swim two qualifying times was freshman Pat Stasio (Horsham/Hatboro Horsham) who qualified in the 50-free with a time of 22.19 seconds and a 49.01 second 100-free. Seven other Huskies reached qualifying markers in the meet against West Chester and Leigh.  Frank Eichorn swam a time of 10:18.87 to qualify in the 1000-free. Also in freestyle events, Bryan Masilotti (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) qualified in the 50-free with a time of 21.67 seconds.  Qualifying in the 200-IM were Jake Harner (Philadelphia/Father Judge) with a time of 2:00.22 and Mark DiLemmo (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) with his time of 2:04.16.  Tom Malloy (Lancaster/Lancaster Catholic) qualified for the 200-fly with a time of 2:04.19. Two more swimmers qualified in the 200-back; A.J. Brady (Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military Academy) with a time of 2:00.08 and Aaron Cancro (Limerick/Spring-Ford) with a time of 2:04.09,
 
Women- (Meet Recap) The Huskies lost to West Chester 170-53 and Lehigh 159-55 at the season-opener tri-meet on Oct. 25. For the women's team seven swimmers had PSAC qualifying marks in their season opener. Freshman Nicole Young  swam a time of 2:27.19 which not only qualified her for the 200-breast but also made her the fifth fastest time in school history. Also a freshman, Brooke Gilson qualified for the 500-free with her time of 5:15.95. In the 500-free Alison Bradway also qualified with her time of 5:20.95. For the 200-free Meghan Gallagher qualified with a time of 1:58.38. Swimmer Kaci Mcllmoyle qualified for the 200-IM with a 2:13.27 and in the 100-free with a time of 54.79 seconds.  In the 200-fly Rachel Brooker qualified with a time of 2:13.27. A relay time of Alex Wheatley, Young,  Brooker, and Gallagher qualified in the 400-medley relay with a time of 4:01.62, this time is the eighth fastest time in school history.
 
LAST MEETING
Men- On Nov. 3, 2012 the Huskies defeated Edinboro, 142-119. This meet came down to the final event, the 200-free relay where the Huskies outswam Edinboro with a time of 1:28.08 compared to their 1:28.30. The winning relay team consisted of Nick Angeny (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan), Bill Urban (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan), Bryan Masilotti (Vineland, N.J./Vineland), and Jake Harner (Philadelphia/Father Judge). Harner posted two PSAC qualifying times against Edinboro.  Swimming a time of 1:49.21 in the 200-free and 54.81 second 100-fly he qualified in both events. Also qualifying in two events was Jeremy Frey (Pipersville/Central Bucks East) in the 200-IM with a time of 2:04.16 and in the 200-back with a time of 2:02.74. A third swimmer posted to qualifying marks, Bill Urban (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) with a time of 55.07 seconds in the 100-back, and a 49.77 second time in the 100-free. Lastly, Cole Underwood (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) qualified in the 1000-free with a time of 10:26.93.
 
Women- The Huskies suffered a close loss to Edinboro on Nov. 3, 2012, 135-127.  Winning the event, Kelsey Brooker also qualified for PSAC in the 100-fly with a time of 1:01.02. Bridget Hilferty took first place in the 1000- and 500-free events.
 
UP NEXT
Both men and women swimming will be competing at Dickinson on Nov. 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
